I’m Canadian too :)
We had to talk about this when I was in school too.
I think people usually consider Canadians to be pretty laid back, nice, passive people. For the most part I agree with that. I also think part of our own identity is not wanting to be identified as an American. I don’t personally have anything against the States or the American people as a whole, but given the present situations in the Middle East and some of the negative feelings that certain nations have against the U.S, I have to say that I’m especially glad to be Canadian right now.
I also think that we’re proud to be Canadians but we tend not to be so…”flag waving”(?) about it. We’re very patriotic, but not in your face about it either.

Hope I didn’t offend anyone with my thoughts.

I’m sorry. We have an identity?

Ok to be more helpful… more liberal in our views. Less patriotic, less God-believing, we’re a “mosaic” rather than a “melting pot” what ever that means. Honestly I think were less unified. As a population we are rather small spread out over a very large area. I don’t think we’re very unified or very similar to each other.

thanks for the replies!! its cool to hear what people think about this issue. in class we had alot of the same answers that you guys had. my point in class was that canada is still a very young country, and has yet to develop its identity. slowly but surely its on its way.
