Actually you should a have suite of protective applications. Grisoft AVG, I’ve used since I first built my first computer. I have used AVG for about seven years, it has kept my system virus free so far. In fact it has intercepted virus’ that have tried to be put on my system. Next I was introduced to Zone Alarm firewall. One caveat!: Do not use the Windows XP or Vista firewall. Because it is a one way firewall, meaning the Windows firewall can keep virus’ from entering your computer, but it does not keep information from getting out once a virus succeeds in being planted on your computer. Zone Alarm on the other hand keeps virus’ from entering your computer and if they do they keep the information from being transmitted out to whomever. To test if your protect for virus’ is working you might want to go to a place called:
http://www.grc.com/; Gibson Research Corporation. Go to the appropriate page for testing your ports. All of these applications I have used so far successfully.
