How would you define semi-formal wear?

I’m thinking a sensible dress at knee length and wedges, what do you think?

for me it would be formal long pants and a long sleve, but not tie. or jacket. it mostly means not dirty and no holes all though them.

An end-of-year football presentation (Aussie Rules). Its at a pub and we also have to wear part of the team colours (red and white) on our head, in my case a big red ribbon. I’m the coaches daughter.
