would you have any advice after that experience on trying to talk someone out of suicidal feelings?

i’ve told him to get professional help because i’m the only thing standing in the way of him and suicide, but he refuses, saying it didn’t work the last time.
i am ashamed to admit i self-injure, and so does he, for differing reasons, and so he talks about these feelings to me, but i don’t think anything i say will help, and don’t think i coudl handle a friend dying on me.

Thank goodness someone had the sense to get you help. I hope things will start to turn out better for you. I know it’s hard work, turning your life around, but you sound like someone who still has the flame of hope alive in you.
