I need help fundraising for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

I signed up for team in training last fall because a family friend was dying of Leukemia, and I was unemployed and needed something to do. Now my fundraising deadline is approaching (next week) and I’m nowhere near the minimum I needed to raise. I’m still unemployed, so literally can’t cover the difference myself. Any ideas out there for fundraising $3000 in less than a week? It is very much a good cause, as it helps further the mission of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (research for a cure, professional and patient education, patient & family support). I’d appreciate any and all ideas or help.

What have you done so far? I have 12 yrs. experience in marketing and advertising and I could give you some ideas but it will take some work. Let me know and I will see if I can help you out.

So far I’ve sent out letters and email updates to pretty much everyone I know asking for donations. It has been relatively successful, but its not going to get me much farther. I haven’t done much else. I know I probably should have, but can’t change that now.
A friend did a garage sale, but that won’t work for me because I’ve moved 4 times in the last year and really don’t have anything I don’t need that I can sell. The only other idea I had was a bake sale (I make some pretty tasty cookies), it will be a start but not enough and I don’t know how I could attract the attention of people other than the ones who have already donated to me.
Thanks for your help.

This is one thing I would recommend: You only have one week is that correct? I would have a neighborhood bake auction with all the proceeds going to your charity. You need to get on TV and talk about your auction and let them know when you are going to have it. Also talk to your neighbors and see if any one would like to bake some goods and that is where the neighborhood bake auction comes in. This is a way for you to raise the funds that you need to raise and at the same time get to know your neighbors. You can go to the local papers and radio stations and let them know as well and they will announce it for you. Some stations have a public service where they will run it through out the day for you letting everyone know the date time and location they will not charge you for this because it is for charity….Good Luck.

You can also try your luck at online charities like Digital Charity, people may send donations if your story is convincing enough. More information at http://www.laodn.org/

I just did an awesome fundraiser for a church youth group. They raised $3000 in two weeks! I know you had a time limit of 1 week, but I thought I’d at least suggest it. This particular group did a Satin Hands fundraiser. The Satin Hands set is the most popular item in the Mary Kay body care line which made this the easiest fundraiser in the world! Most women will buy one set for themselves and some even bought 2 or 3 more sets for gifts for friends and family.

Your total profit from each set sold is 33% making it one of the highest profit percentages in the fundraising industry. If you are interested in finding out more about the Satin Hands Fundraiser, please visit my website at: www.marykay.com/cpetty81 or email me at i> small>(email removed) /small> /i>
