250 Gb Hard drive

I have just bought a new 250 Gb HDD, I just want to know if it is normal for windows XP to detect it as 233Gb, if not how can I correct This?

The “250MB” is read as GigaBit. Your computer runs (mostly) in GigaBytes. The small discrepency between to two (and formatting problems) cause the “loss” of a few GB.

You’ll find this happens with every hard drive ever. It’s a marketing ploy by HD makers to inflate the products image.
