You know those hardcore Neo-Christians?
I’m starting to hate them…
I think a lot of you know who I’m referring to. Those people who reply to posts here with comments along the lines of “you need to have a deeper relationship with Jesus” or “Just try harder to have a relationship with God”… Or my personal favorite way that they make me want to hurt them, (direct quote here btw) ” “Trust Me” you’ve never really developed a relationship with HIM…. ”
Neo-Christians is a blanket term I use to refer to the new Christian movement primarily consisting of teens which display a high level of evangelism, with a strange level of mysticism thrown in, though they don’t seem to realize it. This includes things like pop-christianity, and the connection to Christian rock.
Now, not only do these people take on a high and mighty stance, like they have a perfect relationship with god, and their life is perfect, and that we should all be like them, they figure that praying and going to church like them is the only way to be happy. Then, many of them don’t have a good grasp on the entire history of their religion. I’ll be that almost everyone reading this does NOT know who the Bishop Arius was, let alone what he said about the divinity of Jesus. (if you do, please let me know, if only for my own sense of pride in the human race)
Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for religion existing, and for people practicing it. As far as I’ve seen, it does tend to do more good than bad, entire societies would have collapsed without it, and it provides a great moral basis from which to live. What I am against is people shoving their religion down other peoples throats. I have actually made it a constant effort to NOT let anyone on this site know what religion I am currently practicing, though I also do not hide that I was raised catholic.
So please, remember that there ARE other religions out there that are NOT related to Jesus. There are other religions out there that don’t give a **** about ‘original sin’ or even sin at all. There are even religions which explicitly state that trying to figure out whether or not God exists is an entirely pointless venture, and our time would be much better spent doing things like ACTUALLY HELPING PEOPLE instead of lining up to eat stale wafers and get a sip of wine that a priest waved his hands over whilst reciting latin.
