Where were you?
You can also watch events on Help.com as they happen
Have you got good running shoes. Doesn’t help your circulation I know but I had this problem and it turned out my shoes were causing it. Otherwise you may have to try some gym machine like an eliptical where you don’t lift your feet.
Have you seen a doctor for this?
It may be a good idea to regularly soak your feet (perhaps in Epsom salt) to improve circulation and maybe massage them a bit before you go running. Also, there are great excersises you can try that should help improve your flexibility in your feet as well so that you aren’t straining them as much. Such as sitting on a chair and grabbing a towel towards you using only your toes, etc.
Check around online - I’m sure there are lots of resources for things that you can do at home to help you.
If you are overweight, you will probably need to lose some weight. You’ll probably also need to strengthen your legs, your butt, and your core.
Add some resistance exercise to your running and, for now, dial back your pace. Here’s a good workout, but take it easy at first. The first time you try this, you’ll have a difficult time walking for about three days, because you’ll be sore.
Four rounds for time of (400 m run, 20 air squats).
An air squat is an exercise where you stand up, feet shoulder width apart, and squat. Don’t slouch your shoulders, keep your torso upright, put your arms in front of you to help you keep your back straight, and squat so your butt is lower than your knees. If you’re unbalanced and need to assist with a chair or a wall to get back up, do so. If you have iffy knees, do it slowly and concentrate on the form. Some tips on form are in this great video.
After a while, you’ll be able to run 400 meters and do 50 squats, eight times, and not be sore the next day. The last time I did this workout, I held back to 2:00 400 meter stints and took 2 minutes to do the 50 squats. Half an hour burned 450 calories. I know a guy who can do 8 rounds of 400m + 50squats in 18 minutes flat. I’m not quite that hard, yet.
Squats are great. Keep your core tight, like you’re taking a punch, and focus on form until you build some strength.
Disclaimer: I’m not a medical professional. You should always consult your primary care physician before starting an exercise program.
Also, don’t forget to stretch out before you go running. That includes calf risers if you’re having foot issues. Make sure, finally, that your shoes are professionally fit and don’t lace them too tightly.
Thanks apollo, I’ll see if I can try that out sometime!
running is not good for you it is ok but it can have bad effects on alot of things later in …first you need the right trainers you can go to a shop and get your feet measured and then you need to start by walking …you need to drink a lot of water so your not dehydrated !! and also take vitamins multivitamins !! try walking for a while if it feels better after that then start jogging and build it up like that …! also you should massage your feet and legs to help circulation!!
Try those gelling
pads for your shoes and maybe
see what type of shoe your wearing.
As far as the ankles
the best thing you can do is soak
your feet in water and give yourself
a massage it might not
hurt as bad the next time you go
running :)
You can improve circulation by eating specific foods… eg. garlic, oranges. or take vitamin/ herb supplements.. eg. gengo biloba or vit e.
I think what you should do every day when you wake up in the morning is massage your legs when you get out of the shower. Start at the very tops of your leg and work your way down. This should help get the blood flowing better and maybe get the circulation back. Also give yourself foot masages at the end of the day.
Having a hot bath once a week may help to, again, while your in there, give your self a leg and foot massage.
You should also contact your doctor too.
Ok, I can do the first bit.
I don’t have a bath so I can’t do the second bit.
Third one I could do but I don’t think I need to, I’ve had it for ever and my parents don’t seem that bothered.
Thanks skyseekr! x
Well if you can’t have a bath, use some lotion. It will help you massage better, and not only that, but your legs will be smoother that butter. You should really do it to your whole body, you’ll feel great and it does wonders for your skin.
