I suppose the ignorance of “the way therapists work” is more widespread than I have previously speculated.
Therapists are required by law to report any suspicion of child abuse.
I’m under 18. So I am, by law a child. My sister is 12, and so the therapist may decide that it is an unfit environment for her to be living in.
So to those of you who have no idea what their talking about go away unless you can help me explain to her that what I do in my private life is non of her concern.
no, this will all turn onto you and your life.. not your sisters.. you are the one doing the drugs.. and im almost positive that your parents do not know a thing about it.. so as for your parents being found unfit.. that is not going to happen.. i am educated on these things as i did daycare for a number of years.. the only one that this is going to come back and haunt is you.

she really is right. she can tell her therapist anything and everything she wants. that is the point to talking to a therapist. sorry.
1) She can do what she wants. If you don’t want her telling on you, don’t let her know about things.
2) Confidentiality is upheld by therapists 90% of the time so there is a chance the therapist won’t say anything to the powers that be.
3) If you don’t want to get in trouble, don’t participate in illegal activities.
Remember; you do the crime, you do the time.
If she feels like she needs to talk about it, then she’s absolutely allowed. The therapist has to keep it confidential. You’re little sister is completely right.
she has every right in the world to talk to the therapist. it seems like the only life she is going to ruin is yours and now you are upset about it.
your pathetic.

to cut to the point, perhaps you are making your sister’s environment unsafe. if you really value the security of the way both of you are living, you should stop smoking. that’s the only other alternative.

awww, did I touch a nerve?
i’m sorry, but i don’t know if you will find much aid on convincing your sister, since most people here understand that a client/patient can say anything they want to to a therapist. that is simply what therapists are for.

actually.. i do know what i am talking about. it is child abuse to encourage or allow a child to smoke pot. its a drug and its illegal. and for a parent to allow it to continue, then what ever necessary actions the therapist takes.. it is probably the best for the sister.

hahaha, this has me rollin. Thats the best you can come up with?
“Its a DRUG and its ILLEGAL”?
Do you even know the definition of “drug”?
just do what you think is necessary, anon, but this post is getting no where.
this is not a debate of any kind except for what you two are trying to make out of it. as an adult and being a child abuse enforcer.. meaning that i have a diploma and code number to turn parents in… i do know what i am talking about. so i am educated on this.
so before you go name calling or trying to make yourself look smart, know the facts and the laws of child abuse.

Well I’ve told my sister that I’m not going to do it anymore (lie) and she believed me. My mom is going to have a heart to heart with her about how my decisions are just that…MY decisions.
search the word… mandated reporter and find its meaning.. ok?
Please stop the arguing and insulting. Any more offensive replies will be deleted.

it is to prevent child abuse. so when parents allow abuse of any kind, i turn it in.

Your excused. Thank you for the apology.
i have never apologized for anything. your parents are abusers and i really hope that your sister is smart enough to tell and what is done is worth her telling.

uh huh. My parents are abusers? You dont even know my parents. Perhaps your the abuser? For a child to be brought up in such a close minded and forced into “zombie” like thinking is disgusting.
a parent who allows a child … and i mean.. child.. to use any kind of drug is an abuser.

Once again, I think you need to look up the definition of “drug”.
