A word for talking to yourself is, ‘thinking’. No, thinking does not make you insane, it actually improves your life.

not if you’re having intelligent conversations with yourself

I talk to myself alot, when I get upset, angry or stressed, I think it is a normal habit to have, although sometimes a little awkward when there are people around and you didn’t realize lol.
As for the voices I would recommend getting that checked out, there should only be one voice and that is yourown.

lol i actually have two in my head and they argue all the time-kinda like the devil and angel on the shoulder scenario. one is the voice of reason, the other the voice of insanity

Haven’t you ever seen those cartoons where there is a devil on one shoulder and an angel no the other? Medicine is seriously getting incredibly retarted anymore. The drug companies will make a pill for anything they can convince people isn’t normal.

I talk out loud to myself quite regularly. Sometimes it helps me to put things in perspective. Or admit to things. Or accept things I don’t want to have to accept.

I agree with LazyDaze… most of us talk to ourselves… but those other voices are not good, especially if they are telling you to do things!!

I used to talk to myself a lot, but lately I haven’t been doing that because two nights ago there was a voice inside of me, I’m gonna call it my intuition and told me to be silent and breath deeply. As I did that, I started to notice that things began to be more clear to me and I was just continuing to be silent for the rest of the night and not only that I also noticed that I enjoyed the music that I was listening to even more than I used to before because I was actually listening to the song and not talking to myself and saying how good the song was. Everyone is different, so I don’t think that just because you talk to yourself you’re crazy, everyone does it from time to time I believe. I have a coworker who changes her voice when she talks to herself, it’s quite amazing I might add, lol. When I’m quiet and doing any task it’s easier for me to focus and if something bothers me, I just take some deep breaths and the anger passes away so in conclusion, it’s normal to talk to yourself, if you enjoy it do it.

I have this problem, I talk to my self loudly for hours daily. My mother and sister caught me many times. Im addicted to it because i think a lot and dont have the courage to express this to people. I think is problem related to ADHD.

I caught my brother today talking to him self in the bathroom. He didnt feel sorry for what he is doing and told its his right to talk to him like I do. He went to the kitchen to continue talking and when i told him to stop he told its not of your business.

It is their and your business to ask “Is everything alright?” because that is just caring.
But when they say back …”I was just talking to myself” that should be accepted.
I do it more often then ever (53 now), but I still have sense, and don’t outburst in public.
I definitely believe it is more when you need a stress release when you have some pent up stuff, like a “venting”
Dont think it is abnormal at all.
Almost like a slight autistic thing, but those less intelligence peple may say you your crazy, but what do they know, they are not you… and you function in normal life, right?
I think it may be like a high intelligence, in some form.
