I’m guessing yours is Jesus, right, Derrick?

My mom! She is my role model. She is a teacher and an artist (music.) She reminds me how to appreciate the world around me in the grand scheme of things and to try and look at things from different perspectives. She also hopefully brought me up to be kind, accepting, adventurous and best of all humorous! :)

I admire Dr. Phil, because he comes at morality and decision-making from a pragmatic viewpoint. It’s not just that he knows what’s RIGHT to do, but he makes a good case that the choice that’s RIGHT is also the one that is going to have the greatest benefit for the person doing the choosing and everyone around him or her. In other words, he doesn’t come at problems from a a moralistic, thou-shalt-not perspective. He’s NOT judgmental, and he IS compassionate. He just wants to help people achieve happiness through responsible behavior.

I guess you could say he’s my role model for help.com–that’s the way I try to be when I give advice here. I try to encourage people to take responsibility for their own happiness and success, rather than perceiving of themselves as helpless victims.

If he wants me, he’ll need to show me proof that he exists. He should know, it’s his own fault for making me the way I am. I need proof.

You did call it, Xeno, but I don’t think it’s anything Derrick would deny. I happen to like you a lot, Xeno, quirky and contrary though you like to be, and I’m wondering who YOUR role model is. Whose behavior do you admire and emulate?

I’ve been searching for proof my whole life. I’ve tried to believe more times than I care to admit. If your God cared about me or my soul in the slightest, he’d have shown some evidence of it by now. Maybe it’s as simple as ‘God doesn’t like me’.

that’s the problem you want proof and let me tell you something you will never get any proof… that’s why it is called faith , if there was proof for God’s existence than everybody now would be believing in the same God no christians no muslims no buhda one would prevail over all…

There are people I admire, but as influential as they’ve been to me, I don’t mimic them.

everything is good and bad in the same time really you choose the side , an outer beauty could be ur curse could be ur gift , it could help ya out if you know how to use it… fear can hold you hostige or let u from temptation you got to learn how to use them… just as u urself ur wisdom has consumed you it isnt ur gift anymore because it is blinding you from the simple truth… you are the way you are because you chose to not because God made you that way…God shows us the way in simple things that we dont even recognize sometimes while they are all ways there like the beauty of nature… this is FreeWill :) , God gave you everything you need to find him , but not the way you are doing so…. but his way, the way of the faith the way you call it blind following… believe in what ever you want … it’s FreeWill…

Or maybe he prefers a**holes who purposely misspell peoples’ cherished nicknames after being asked politely many times to stop? Maybe he prefers the type of attitude that refuses to live and let live, but causes people to put down anyone who doesn’t believe what they do? If that’s the case, then you’re in, SIlverwings. I have tried it, Derrick. I’ve tried every religion. They all promise the same things, and they all feel the same. And none of them have any more evidence of their claims than any other. I don’t have the ability to blindly believe anything, whether I want to or not. This isn’t my choice, it’s the way I was born.

i never really had a role model that i can remember having at a young age…

i guess my modern heroes are hp lovecraft, andy warhol, and a few of my favorite musicians who made it big through hard work, faith in themselves, and a little luck. it’s good to know that it’s still possible to achieve our wildest dreams…
