They may have bought him the dog for theraputic purposes. A lot of times, when people have brain problems that prevent them from communicating or associating normally with other human beings, then having a pet helps them to learn to cope better. Animals can help such people to find the confidence to work on their own problems and face the every day world if they can establish a bond with the person. It helps the person to act more “normal.”

I’m sure your parents don’t want your brother to kill the dog, but if they’re at their wits end about finding a way to help him cope, then getting him a dog might not actually be a bad idea as long as someone supervises him with the dog at all times until a good bond is established.

if you see that the dog is being abused, tell your parents. for now, someone should always keep an eye on him with the dog.

sounds like actual autism, he doesnt know whether to hug or hit an animal, and if he does hit I doubt he even realises how much. Even if he isnt though and hes just disturbed your attitude is less than helpful, youll be a part of your brother becoming a madman

i doubt many people do, sounds like a good enough reason to exert yourself through mindless violence
