I am a self-injurer.

It will leave scars just like self injury. I too was once a self-injurer.

that’s true…so if i haven’t cut myself in a year but i pick scabs does that mean im not clean…?

I’ve always had a bad habit of picking scabs even when I was little. I think that’s all it is a bad habit unless you are intending to further hurt yourself.

the only thing i’ve contemplated about hurting myself is with alcohol, not my normal weapon of choice … a razor

I don’t think it’s really as bad, unless you’re intending on doing it to hurt yourself. To me it’s just a bad habit, kind of addicting and enjoyable in my case and I don’t know why. But then again, it can cause scars and possibly lead to infections. [Although I’ve never had any from it, well that I know of anyway] Also, scab picking can be caused from a mental disorder such as OCD or BDD. [I have OCD] Although just because you pick scabs it doesn’t mean you actually have OCD, but it is a form or ’symptom’ of it. And BDD, well that’s bascially just when you are unhappy with the way you look, and start trying to pick at your “imperfections”.

But anyways, if you’re really concerned about it just talk to your doctor.
