It seems that every time I go to sleep I dream.

Sometimes the dreams are weird but other times they are violent. People in these dreams kill me or try to, make me do things, like sexual things against my will. All of this started last September I’d say when I was experiencing increased anxiety and depression. When I dream so much it feels like I never get good quality sleep and it makes me feel fatigued the next day. Sometimes I cannot separate what I dreamed and what actually happened. I know almost everyone dreams every night but I seem to be remembering more and more of them when I wake. I’ve thought of meditation to try to calm my mind before I sleep. Any other suggestions? Anyone have any theories as to why I might be having such violent troubling dreams?

I wouldn’t recommend medication, better try to do something relaxing before you go to sleep, like read a positive book, watch a comedy, take a warm bath, walk.

I would recommend having a sleep study done. Do you feel tired during the day? Do you fall asleep without knowing it? I have sleep apnea and I have experienced some of the dreams that you described. After I was diagnosed with sleep apnea, and treated, I didn’t dream as much about those things and I felt better during the day. My depression and my anxiety have both come under control. It really helps. So go and see a sleep doctor, and try to get some rest!

Thanks for the advice everyone. Maybe I should stop reading murder mysteries before going to sleep. I might try staying up 24 hours on my day off. And scars.withi, doesn’t sleep apnea having more to do with breathing during sleep?

If you really have problems with sleep, i suggest you should try something called LUCID DREAMING. It may sound weird, but it is a technik of dreaming and knowing you are dreaming, that way you are able to see the danger (fear) in the eyes and confront it, knowing that nothing can happen to you because it+s only a dream. Bad dreams are trying to tell you something, you shouldn+t try to get rid of them so easily, find out what are they about. What ever you decide, good luck, i.

I have never left a post on some thing like this…but i dooooo have a dream/sleep problem. I dream soooo much that as soon as I actually doze off, I’m in a new dream. I remember 75 percent of the dreams. I get anxious about falling to sleep because i know a bad world awaits my mind. I try to talk to myself like rolling dice..instead of saying “come on 7 or 11″, I’m saying “come on good dream, happy dream, fun dream”. I have been killed in my dreams at least twice a month and I fight someone at least once a week. I have recurring dreams of driving my car just to see my car keep driving without me and I see it go into traffic and I’m hoping the car doesnt crash into anyone. I just learned what lucid dreaming is and I surely find myself in a dream and recognizing it…I have many earthquake dreams..I could go on….help:(
