life help: Hi everyone. - Help.com

Hi everyone.

I’m a 23 year old college student. I recently had to change my major again. I have a horrible GPA (good enough to still be in school, but not good enough to have a realistic shot at ever finding a job or going to grad school.) I want to be hopeful, but I want to be realistic. At this point, I feel that I’m doomed to a working a menial job that doesn’t challenge or excite me. I wish I could have been more focused, motivated and realized what was at stake. But in this life, it seems like you don’t get second chances. I’ve had enough hard knocks in life and I feel like just giving up. I’d like to see a light at the end of the tunnel, but I just can’t. For that reason, I really want to commit suicide.

In the big picture of your life, GPA is not that important. You can still have a rich fulfilling life. How long have you been feeling depressed?

I agree with babacup–if you’re GPA is good enough to stay in school, then it’s good enough for you to get a job. How much longer do you have before you graduate? There may still be time for you to improve, but even if there isn’t, you’re not doomed to a menial job.

Do you think you could talk to an academic or career adviser? They might be able to give you more insights.
