I have been using metric in the USA for over 20 + years in and outside of the government, in professional and personal capacity. Where did you research your data? LOL!
Why are you posting under Anonymous? Aren’t you proud of your ignorance? If we went with the flow on ideas you would still be reading by candle light, and writing with a pen instead of typing on a computer:) We definately don’t always get it right but I for one am glad we are different:)
I must assume you are working indirectly for government agencies, or for ones that are accredited by the gov’t. I worked in private industry that could be shut down by federal and state licensing agencies. In that capacity, a private company will bow to modern conventions to stay in business. Forget learning it in school, you use it on the job or else you don’t have one.
My dear, go to your local bookstore. Look at the home repair guides and cookbooks. I assure you that it will be a difficult task to find measurements in either section that conform to use metric units. I don’t appreciate the insults, and don’t expect them from you; did you really invite people to this ancient post to argue the use of metric in N. America. I was just pointing out that the US will not get on board with progressive ideas implemented in other countries. Our speed limit signs are in MPH, the distance to another town is listed in miles. Do you own a house? How many ACRES does it sit on? Total Square Feet of living space? Gas is priced by the GALLON, as is Milk and juice. (Cola companies are different, they have an international market, they LOVE the liter!) You must admit that the U.S. is not on board with metric.
I think metric should have been implemented here long ago. Bids for government jobs are required to be submitted in both English and metric units. Maybe in another 100 years the battle will be over. No need for an apology, I realize you live in your own little world and can’t turn your giant over inflated head around to see all the realities that exist. Excuse me while I actually help someone here…this is a waste of my poor typing skills!
;p
Well if you comunicated your point clearly in the beginning I would have agreed that the US is taking it’s sweet time converting to metric:) Your assumptions are wrong, I use lots of tools:), metric and otherwise. Now if we all speak the same language what fun would that be Anon?
