Hmm, I probably wouldnt straight out lie about it. It doesnt seem like that bigger deal, like you said hey. Id probably tell her a family event was planned that you couldnt get out of, which is more along the lines of the truth.

It depends on how one looks at these things. You’re not a jerk to me, but if you’ve made empty promises then you are being ishy.

Don’t go through life prevaricating. Tell your mother what happened. Perhaps the tickets could be changed to a different Broadway show. Or, if they cannot, decide what to do about the spaghetti dinner. Most likely the dinner is to be a fundraiser. What if your family made a donation in lieu of just sitting there and eating spaghetti? But take it from me: own up to your mistakes. Everybody makes mistakes–it’s how you handle them that shows what kind of character you have.
