I have noticed Internet Explorer becoming more unstable over the last couple of months.

It was freezing three or more times a day. I was only using it for hotmail for the convenience. I am now using FireFox for every thing now with no problems.

firefox is good choice, but in case you back to IE, next time you could use ctrl+alt+del to open work manager and shut down the ie go fix the problem.

Hey Ireland,

Just keeping a low profile. Still using my old Compaq. My daughter has taken over my IBM T22. Other than picking up a few Trojans and some spyware doin’ just fine. I tried the trial version of ‘Trojan Remover’ with good results but, it’s a little expensive for me to own. I’ll be going to Phoenix for the summer in a couple of weeks so, I may not get out here much until AUG.

I didn’t quite understand what you were trying to tell me ubiquit. Do you have a method to trouble shoot IE7? I am always more than happy to learn something new.

Iraland-1

My Compaq is about eight years old. It uses an Intel Pent IV 1600 MHz 2 X 256Meg DDR SCRAM. My video processor is an ATI All-In-Wonder Rage 128 pro. When I bought it was a very hot item. I don’t think it is a hardware problem as I don’t have any problems with FireFox or any of my other applications.

Well I tried what you suggested and it was an interesting exercise. The event viewer told me it was an application hang. It also told me it was the Internet Explorer and it stopped responding. Wow, all this work and I knew it intuitively! So I followed the recommendations as set forth from the event viewer. I used method #1 and I didn’t have any updates. Next I followed the trouble shooting methods that they recommended in step #2. I had previously done all of the recommended scans for malware. The final result was, “Currently there are no Microsoft Knowledge Base articles available for this specific error or event message.” I have continued with method #3 and reset the browser. I’ll let you know if it helps.

Your friend Ron

Just a quick update. After resetting my IE browser it has become much more stable. Instead of freezing one or twice a day it is down to once per week. It is a much improved condition but, still a poor performance. So the conjecture that all of the problems with IE7 are due to plug-ins seems to be so much bull..
