Honey, 14 is really young to have a baby, you’re still a kid yourself. You don’t have to have an abortion, there’s a wonderful thing called ‘open adoption.’ You can place your baby for adoption but still be in his or her life, visits, get pictures…it’s the greatest thing ever. Only YOU can make the choice if you are ready or not, but if you choose to keep your baby, know that you are in for a long and hard road. I wish you luck.

I’m with AlyssaJones. Keeping the baby will be very, very difficult. You are young and you need to finish school if you have any shot at having a future. And yes, your mother does have a say because you are too young to care for the baby yourself. When you get down to it, your parents are the ones who will have to take care of it. It wasn’t their choice to have another baby, so if they aren’t up taking care of another baby, then an open adoption might be a good choice for you.

As for your boyfriend, he does have a say in what happens, but again, he’s pretty young too. So he won’t be able to raise the child without help. Running away with him certainly will not be an option. At 17 he won’t be able to earn enough money to take care of both you and the baby.

Sorry you are in this situation. Encourage your friends to not make the same mistake as you. You now have to make decisions nobody really ever wants to make. I wish you luck. Write back if you need more advice.

Keep your child. It will be hard but it will be satisfying. Your maternal instincts have already activated and separating from the child may leave a void in your life. Your family will help you. They’ll be angry at first but that will stop when the baby is born. Only you can know what’s right for you. A baby is a blessing, a gift and an incredible responibility. You can raise your child and no matter what, you won’t be alone.
