Hi, My name is Sooksai. I’m a student from Thailand. I’m in the nursing school at KY, and this is my sophomore year. Although I just got a scholarship from the school, but they will start to pay from the next semester. My problem is I need a financial help for this semster, since my family’s business back in Thailand has a sudden financial problem. Now, I cannot register for the next semester, because the school still hold my account unless they get pay from me for this semester. I tried to apply for loans, but every financial institutions need US citizen as my co-signer, and I don’t know any body who’s US citizen.
Is there anybody here can help me?? Pls give me any suggestion.

Swas dee ka, Khob khun mak ka…I already asked help from the student aid center, but they have financial aid for American students only. Also it’s hard to get the scholarship for international student (especially those who’s in the bachelor degree). I applied for scholarship since my first semester…and finally get it for the next semester.
By the way, how do you learn Thai?? Have you ever been in Thailand before :)
I don’t know anybody there :( Anyway, it sounds interesting. Do you know any nursing school there ?? Pls give me more information about the school there, my email is keeh719 @ live.com …I need to know about credit transfer.
..Little Bear School…I know this school, but what you were doing there ?? Are you a teacher ??

I’ve never been to Thailand but my favorite restaurant is a Thai restaurant (the owners and employees are all Thai - no “fakers”) and it is WONDERFUL. I order different dishes there and am never disappointed.
Regarding your college, is there any way you could find a sponsor? It seems like there would be some sort of sponsor program somewhere for students from other countries. Also, would it be possible to open a credit card that would allow you to charge enough that the debt would no longer belong to the school and they will let you have your scholarship? I don’t normally recommend credit cards, but sometimes people actually need them - just make sure you can make the payments on it.
I know it may be difficult to manage- but many have doen it before. it takes dedication & long nights but ou can do it- get a job. save up. pay for school yourself if no one can help you. If worse comes to worse sign up for as many classes as you can afford to- even if it’s just one whiel you save to pay for more. It doesn’t matter how long you take to graduate as long as you get it done!! If it’s reallyyy bad take next semester off- work work WORK liek crazy- spend the bare minimum so that you have enough to continue your studies the following semester. Good luck!!!
All of those programs need co-signer who’s American citizen, and I don’t know any of them. Well I’ve never try the credit card before. I will go to the bang, and try to apply for it on Monday, but I don’t know will they allow international student to do so.
Well…international student cannot work off campus, we can work only on campus and only 20 hrs/week. Although, you might see some international students work off campus, but that’s illegal. My city (Murray, KY) is a small town, and there used to have Thai student tried to work off campus, finally the immigration officer send her home.
Yes, I plan to work on that kind of job next semester in order to cover the rest of the tuition after subtracted by my scholarship. But I still need money (in urgent) to pay for this semester, because the semester is going to end soon and I cannot register for the next semester (they hold my financial account).
Do you know any loan or financial aid for international student that they don’t need co-signer ??
=[ Im so sorry I can’t really help with that. My best suggestion is to go to the financial aid office and explain you’re situation someone to see what resources are available to you. In the least, perhaps they can refer you to another place you may be able to get or borrow what you need to pay for classes. They have the knowledge- it’s their job to have the knowledge. If whoever you speak to initially can’t help- speak to another representative until you get some answers. Be persistent. Speak to your professors as they may be able to give you direction as well- especially fi they see how committed oyu are to your studies. I strongly suggest that you try to avoid credit cards/loans (although i suppose you ahve to do what you have to do). Credit cards & loans mean interest and a bill you must pay every month. Debt is a terrible thing and if you dont keep up with it, it can swallow you. I truly hope you find a way through this financial dilemma! Good Luck!
