It depends. Where are you at (country, state)? What kind of insurance do you wish to sell?

I use to work for a major insurance company and had applied to work for and get my liscense to sell life insurance. I went through AIG(American General Insurance). If you have any type of insurance company in your hometown just call them and they will direct you or go to the various websites for the insurance company and I’m sure you will find out what you are looking for.

Assuming you live in the USA, you should do a websearch for your state’s Department of Insurance. It also might go by the name: Office of the Insurance Commissioner.

Insurance licenses come from the State government, so these state government websites will have links on how to apply for a license.

Keep in mind that insurance licenses are sometimes also called “producer licenses”.

I used this online course. It list the states that except it.
You just pass the course with 70% and you get the 40 credit hours you need to take the state exam and get your license. It even came with an exam simulator with all the practice tests. The best part was that it cost me only $89.95 instead of the $300+ dollars. This was the lowest price out there for this exact same course. Check it out! It was very good and saved me time and money.
