One Principal making my life Hell

We got a new principal this year and i just started yr 12. The only problem she is creating havok for all the students in the school. I was 5 min late to school with a note and she sed the note wasnt good (due to family commitments) enough and gave me detention. My mum went in to talk to her and she was bein polite and saying that it is not fair to give me detention with a note. The principal told her she had to make an appointment and she wuld not listen to my mum, my mum goes ‘well your not being a very good principal’ and the principal responds “well your and unfit mother and I see where your daughter gets her bad behaviour from!”. I was shocked because I had never done anything to the principal and I am never in trouble, (I always have a note if I am ever late) she constantly gives denetention to all the students for petty incidents, even to 5 year old kids who are in kindy get detention for bein late. She then makes us wait 20 min in the front office to get our detention slips, making us miss lesson time.

The school I go to is the only one because I live 550km from the next town so I can’t move schools, and every students parent dislikes her atittude. another problem is the way she dresses, low cut singlet dresses, tops, high heels and lots of makeup, she is not a very good role model for the school.

Any suggestions on how to resolve an incident like this?? Its making me depressed and I want to quit school, we never had any problems with any of the previous principals.

Ugh, that sounds really horrible. Just swallow your pride and take the detention, and then just try to follow all the rules. If she’s too strict and everyone is complaining, there are bound to be some changes soon.

This doesn’t excuse your principal’s behaviour, but I think it may be because she is new that she is so strict. Many teachers worry that they will not gain respect from students in a new school unless they are very strict to begin with. It may well change. I also think that if a lot of people are complaining, it may well change faster.

As for the revealing clothes and makeup - I absolutely agree. Again, if parents begin to complain, I’m sure that will change.
