One of my pets has cancer.

i cried about it and i hate the thought of loseing my ferret. the thing i dont get is how come when i was in 4th and 5th grade i didnt cry about my parents getting cancer and weather or not either one of them was going to die. is that a bad sign? [im 15 now]

With age comes understanding, and cancer could still seem mysterious in the 4th grade. Additionally, kids tend to perceive that their parents are capable of dealing with anything, as they protect you. Pets, however, are totally dependent on you, and cannot be expected to cope with such a crucible.

Any sympathy is a good thing, and I’m sure you’d feel terrible if you were to now learn something awful was going to happen to a person. Don’t worry yourself with your ways of thinking in younger times, it’s okay.

I’m sorry about your ferret though, I lost two hamsters once and was very upset.

My dog has cancer and my mom says she’s going to have him put down in a month, and I’m in the same boat you are. D:

I agree that it is an age issue: youg people do not always and as readily realize the gravity of the situation.

I agree with Ozzy, that your sympathy for the ferret is a good sign

I am sorry about your pet. It is very hard; we lost a labrador retriever to cancer four years ago. I bawled for weeks.
