If you’re going to use it for heavy rock and with distortion I would definitely go for a Gibson (usually expensive though) or an Epiphone (cheaper copies of Gibson) brand guitar. Humbucker pickups. SG’s have slim necks and are very easy to handle and shred with. Ibanez is good for that too.

But really, it comes down to you, experimenting will bring new things and I don’t think that sticking with what is ’suited’ or often used with a particular is something to stick with. Listen to the tone you want.

Telecasters are really bright and sharp.

Les pauls are well rounded and heavy.

Umm.. yeah o.o

I want a Fender Telecaster ‘72 custom myself, or a Rickenbacker.

I’m a bass player, but I’m sure the same concept of brands applies close enough. My first two basses were Ibanez. They are a great brand, very well suited for beginning, and adaptable for most types of music. Right now, I’m plucking Ibanez soundgear and and an ESP. Both are great. Like they said before me, though, you have to FEEL it yourself, so try them all out.

jems probably the best in my opinion, but expensive as ****.
for your second guitar, maybe get like a nice ESP, or i have a BC rich(totally metal), be sure to get some humbuckers.
but take into consideration it depends on your playing style.

for example;
warlock(what i have)- its too metal to be playing alternative on, you need to be playing like slipknot or dethklok or metallica on that.
fender strat-anything really, though its more of a casual guitar
explorer- works for alot of styles, mainly regular rock or some metal(i know james hetfield uses one)

hmm.. try out a gibson SG, or a Les Paul. just go to guitar center.
