Go to google and type in AVG. Its free anti virus software and its brillinat! it will find the viruses and repair them and if it cant repair them it will keep them away from the important parts of your computers system… it will do updates and virus checks regularly and its really very good :)

they can’t charge you, because they have no way too.

you never gave them a credit card number, so they can’t bill you.

And they didn’t ask for one because it is 110% free.

If your PC seems like its slowing down or having a hard time surfing the web or just doesn’t seem right.
You should go to http://download.com and get these programs. AD-Aware, Spybot search and destroy, CCleaner and and if you dont have an Antivirus program you can use Avast or AVG, and for your firewall a good program is Zone Alarm. Install these programs and run them regulary. This will keep your system clean and running properly. These programs are free and Download.com is a part of CNET (the site that your posting on right now). Hope this helps :-)

i think my daddy has spybot. and i canciled the download. and macafee worked grate at first, but now it just dosn’t work anymore. and when ever i log into the computer, a window pops up that says “protection control thingy failed to start” or something like that so what ever it is dose not work!

one more question, well, two more. in order for these programs to work, dose the user have to tell it to run or dose it do that by itself?

and: could the websites i visit have anything to do with all the spyware and crap that daddy finds every time he runs a viril scan? or is that just to be expected if your going to serf the web? and if so, why is it only when I go on the computer that all this happens?

For the spyware removers you have to run them, its easy and I use them all of the time. I would remove Macafee unless you have just paid for it again and install AVG or Avast. I use Avast and it works great. Another thing is if the protection control is not starting your firewall is not working either. And for your last question, yes every time you go on the web there are trackers and other things that get loaded onto your pc just by surfing. It would be nice if they were not there but that is why they make these programs. If you run your cleaners once a week your system will stay clean. Hope this helps :-)

It sounds like your dad already has a good handle on removing any bad things. When he complains about it again then, tell your dad nowadays many of commonly accessed sites have been hacked and contain spyware and malware. Even he could have picked up something. It is very difficult to go any ware without picking up something nasty. There is a large conspiracy of criminals that are infecting people’s computers and selling the use of them to deliver spam and other nasty things.

it may be all that software that you can probably do without. as mentioned by others above, you can try something else too instead of mcafee, like Avast or AVG but you probably don’t understand it that much - don’t worry about it. Try this one first, restart your computer, then before opening anything else, just open up 1 browser window and wait and see if you get pop-ups. Also, since it’s your parent’s pc, do you have have administrator priviledges?

I do not have administrator priviledges on my side of the computer but i can easily go on moms side since she never uses it. they both use daddys side. and, macafee cost money? why pay money if you can, like what was said eariler, get protection for free? we already have enough expeces with the horses and my braces! lol. anyway, if removed or added any programs daddy would go BAZERK!!!! but i guess i can try showing him this post and hopefull he’ll stop putting all the blame on me. please pray because he has always been a paranoyed douter. he douts stuff he knows nothing about! he even keep two efing gates to keep the horses in. and one of them isn’t even a gate, its a fence panle!! and its a big pain! and its unessassary!! uhg!! i’m getting way off the topic. sorry, anyway, thank you for all your help! i grately appresheeate it! hey here’s something you can probably tell your dad. if you really need help you can try looking for any crossloop user who might be able to help you. crossloop.com has a software that lets u share your computer access just for the other person to figure out whats wrong and help you with your pc. but you have to be careful with who you give access to because they would really see whats on your screen (but you need internet connection of course) and the other party can pretty much access your computer and install and uninstall stuff but you’d have tp reconnect if you turn off the pc of course.

i hope i could recommend some crossloop users but maybe you can check out their website and you might find qualified individuals willing to help for free.

well as long as the browser works and the internet connection is still okay, i’m sure there’s a way to fix the problem. it’s just a matter of figuring out what it really is or what’s causing it so there can be a fix. :)

Hey Sasuke Chibi,

It’s a leap of faith… If you get infected you just clean it up and start over. It is estimated that 500 to 1000 new strains appear each day. Thank god they don’t appear all at the same time and place. Don’t forget to update your virus data base daily.

Good luck Ron
