I’m in my late 20’s and have had normal, regular periods all my life.

About 6 months ago, I stopped having them, though, and now I’m getting spotting in the middle of my cycle. I’m on the pill and have taken pregnancy tests which are negative. I can’t go to my OB as I don’t have health insurance right now. Does anyone have any ideas about what this could be? The only thing I’ve found is excessive exercise, which I don’t do, and excessive stress, but that only stops it for

OK excessive exercise may have reduced your body fat to a level where you cannot menstruate. Stress can do this too. Have you ever had a smear test and are there any Sexually Transmitted Disease Clinics in your area that will give you a smear for free. Sounds very much like you have over-exercised though - no body fat no ovulation

My body fat is normal (21%), and all of my previous paps and tests have come back normal.

My mom was just diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I was tested about a year ago, and my levels were normal. Maybe I can get this rechecked when I have insurance…

Also, the pill I’m taking has been the same for the last 8 years…

:) Thanks for the suggestions!

Thyroid problems are notoriously difficult to diagnose until they are established. Maybe you should consider giving yourself a complete break from the pill for about 3-6 months and let your hormones settle down. It;s not a big sacrifice as there are some people that the pill does not work for and it can take a few years to show up. dont go endangering your future fertility - just use a condom for a while and let nature restore the balance
