Since the weather started getting nice and warm, I’ve been seeing ants all over the lower level of my house.

at first it was only one or two, here and there.. but i went to the kitchen like an hour ago and there were ants walking all over the place.

i tend to FREAK OUT around insects of any kind. i wont be surprised if i have some kind of phobia. idk.. my parents think its funny when i scream and even cry.. and they grew up in the country so they really dont mind anything, and they’re totally not helping.. do i really have a phobia of some kind? and what can i do right now to get rid of these ants?!?!??

and i dont even know if we have any kind of insect-killing spray or anything.. HELP!!

ants can carry desease and germs, like samonella, so you need to find out where they are coming from.

Put your food up out of the way in air tight containers and what I’ve been told works, is to use talcum powder ( even scented is supposed to work) around the windows and doors and along the outside of the perimeter of your house.

They don’t like the powder, and this is safe for animals and outside wildlife too!

I’m going to try it…

I heard borax powder works too, but it does kill the grass.

LOL, well I once had a bunch of ants coming in my kitchen… in fact, I finally tracked them down to see where they were pouring in through a crack in the doorway, one following another. They follow each others’ trails? I’m a bit odd in that I don’t like to kill anything, not even bugs. I realized one thing they were attracted to was coffee creamer that had spilled on the counter… so I put some of that on a paper plate, and sure enough, before long I had tons of ants on that plate… and I carried them outside, repeated…. LOL. OK, most people are not going to do anything that crazy, I realize… but ants are pretty smart creatures (and hard workers too!) and I hate killing them.

Short of that, there are little ant traps you can place in corners.

You can pour baking soda around the doorways to deter them… make a solid line and they won’t cross it.

Cleaning with vinegar helps to deter ants.

Remove any sweets or foods that are left out in the open.

I used to be terrified of spiders… I mean, I couldn’t even be in the same room if there was a spider when I was young. I somehow outgrew that totally, I now rescue spiders too and put them outside…. even though they still creep me out a little, I’ve really overcome it. Many to most people are afraid of bugs… it’s not so unusual.
