Help me with my computer.

Im trying to run Ad-Aware SE liveupdate thing, but it keeps saying there was an error connecting to the server. I also am trying to run CHKDSK /F, but it says the volume is in use by another process. HELP

First, restart your computer, in case there’s some program doing something. Try the CHKDSK again.

The Ad-Aware problem might be with their server, or your internet connection (though it looks like you’re connected to the internet right now, so…). If the problem persists, you might want to contact them directly.

Do you have the newest version of Ad-Aware? Maybe you should uninstall it, re-install the newer version, and then try. If it still doesn’t work, you should talk to them about it.

Try to reinstall Ad-Aware, make sure to get the most updated version and any possible patches they have on their site.

And what’s your F: drive? Why are you trying to CHKDSK it?

If you’ve mounted the F: drive (if you can see it in My Computer) you’re not going to be able to CHKDSK it.

Well if it’s trying to CHKDSK the drive that Windows is installed on, that’s definitely not going to work. If you have your Windows CD, you ought to be able to boot from that and CHKDSK that drive.

Then run if /F from your CD.

Alternatively, use Linux (it works better and I’d be able to help you a lot more in the event that something actually did go wrong).
