I hate my job!

the trouble is, i’ve been doing it for 15years and can’t see a way out..I work as a chef and haven’t been in the same place for 15 years, far from it-i’ve had more jobs than partners. Now my cv looks like I’m a drifter of some sort..moving here to there and it’s not good! I seem to give my all and then just get exhausted, so move on to another, similarly-paid, similarly-crap job. I haven’t progressed at all it seems and now at 33 i’m scared about how and what i could change to(all my work has been centered around cooking/catering trade). I’m seriously exhausted with the long hours and don’t know where to start. i always seem to take a job on the premise that one day i’ll get out of this trade, yet here i am..still chained to the stove.
Any ideas? I’m educated, don’t get me wrong but all my work experience just revolves around the bloody kitchen!
any replies appreciated..otherwise just have a giggle at this mad rant :) thanks

There is always a way out.
Just look for something and take it.
The fact that you have had a job and stuck at it will count for a lot to most employeers, its shows you can hold a job and be commited and everyone understands that people like a change, so you wont be blamed for that and people will understand.

You never said what it is that you may want to do instead. What do you like cause just 5 years older than you i know that scared feeling about your future and being stuck doing the same thing over and over and hating it. So what is it that you would like to do?

I hate my job as well , so I think the way out is to know which field you want to work at & see if you are qualified enough for it , if not so work on improving your skills & qualifications then send your c.v to the places you want to work in .

Wish you luck & me as well :)

This off topic, but I was wondering why mas1 has been banned and if mas1 will be back?

I hate my job i have only been there for a year and yes i can say i have learned some new things but all i know is i am not happy i want to find something that is less stressful and will allow me to spend more time with my daughter and did i forget to mention also to get away from all the dramatic bull that everyone keeps in an uproar around there.it makes it really hard to get up and go to work, very unmotovating to say the least.
but the only problem is trying to find another job.

If you are anything like me…….God help you if you are……just kidding…
I don’t like the same thing for too long……I have to have change…..I love what I am doing now though…….I have loved my other jobs too…..I also have been diagnosed with “Bipolar”, but I think that it actually has some very good points to it….for instance……periods of intense creativity…….

Do you have any hobbies?

Do you find yourself critiquing yourself on your job?

Do you feel sometimes that you should be doing something greater with your life…I do….

I pack parachutes now and I love it!

I’m really tired so my reply probably doesn’t make much sense….but I had to reply to you……I appreciate you and Mas helping me with my Scottish “accent” and vocabulary…… :-)

nae bother(no problem) lol
I love cycling and cooking(the latter i do for a living…well, i scrape by :), the former for pleasure and find it helps to exorcize demons and stay in shape.
I criticise myself immensely, but at the same time am yet to find anyone in the kitchen that works as hard or fast as i do(which isn’t neccessarily a good thing-the slackers tend to let me carry them..lazy b8*tards)
I always feel and have felt like i could and should be doing something better/else with this life and am now starting to panic a wee bit(i’m 34 this year)…and.. i’ve been diagnosed with bipolar late last year, but it doesn’t seem to be any cure does there? I don’t believe in taking prescription drugs either(seeing as i spent a great deal of my life previously taking the street variety-mainly weed)
Thanks for your comments and advice..much appreciated :)

I just came off of one of my bipolar drugs……it’s not even worth starting some of them…….I have exercise is a crucial part as you have put it……exorcising your demons…..that really helps me too, when I do exercise
