About a week ago I posted a post about my mom being adopted and how I would like to find her bio.

Father, Well I think I have found him. I just went on to google and found his number and address. But I don’t know what to say can someone please help me! I would be his granddaughter so I don’t know what to say. I don’t want to scare him off and have him hang up the phone on me so what do I do!

Well… you’re just going to have to take the plunge, I think. Maybe something like

“Hi, I promise you I’m not trying to get your money or anything, but… I’m your granddaughter”

On second thoughts, no… you’re right, this is hard. What were you thinking of saying, or don’t you have any ideas at all?

You have to introduce a 3rd party - a neutral person to make the initial call - remember anyone could be listening - he could be on speaker phone. Get an intermediary - they do exist to help with this. Sometimes people start by writing a letter which gets passed on by the middle man - this prepares everyone without a complete shock - tread carefully
