Hey all i just finished watching sicko and I’m just wondering… is it all true? is it really like that in the USA? and how did it all come about and why the system is like that even today??

well from a uk point of view i almost laughed at his portrail of the NHS.
don’t get me wrong i love the NHS! it is wonderful, and yeah there would be a revolution if anyone tried to dismantle it. but he is as sensationalist as everyone-else in the conservative media (i actually quite like it, actually, why not? use their tools agains them knowingly). the NHS has flaws, as one would expect anything that big and complicated would have. but as for why watch the film again, it was decided by old fashioned post-ww2 politicians and what its like now, ask someone from the US here. scary as hell to me! sorry US peeps who are really cool anyways =]

I have lived in both USA and Canada. I must agree with what the film is saying. When I was 4 years old I needed a surgery for my heart problem, in Canada it was free. In the U.S.A. my family wouldn’t have never been able to afford it. Thank fully at the time I lived in Canada.
