My family and myself need help.
I lost a job that was paying for our housing and food. In Maine things have become impossible. We have no oil for hot water and I do not know how we are going to buy food. This is the first time I have had to ask for help. In the past I have been able to help others. I am glad I did when I could because I know how they feel. I do not know how we are going to keep the roof over our heads. I am trying everything not become a homeless family. Please help. Thanks

I think that if you have not already that you should have one real prayer to God asking for guidence. Then look for your answers around you. Thats what I do. Im sure you wont have to wait long for the answer the hard part will come when your tested by having to step up to the plate to things you hate in order to grow and make life well for your family. Remember this, God wants you to be great and wants the very very best for you. God gives you the pasion for things for a reason, no matter how small. Follow your instints!
You are right
You should move out of Maine, and I might suggest since you live so close to Canada considering moving up there, since the economic situation in the US isn’t going so well. Quality of life and living are looking slightly better up there now, and you’re probably within driving distance of New Brunswick, Quebéc, Newfoundland & Labradour or Nova Scotia, all wonderful places to live. Montréal is also a wonderful city, one of the largest in Canada and North America, and has plenty of work oppurtunities and places for family. Living in Montréal is cheap and nice, and it’s a nice place to stay at least until things get better. Since the US and CAN dollars are almost equal these days, you won’t lose money if you work up there. If you’d rather not move out of the US, Vermont has some favorable laws and Boston is a good place to start again. It’s up to you in the end, but I’d advice that you move somewhere, just because at this point prospects aren’t getting much better for you. Good luck!
I should mention Halifax is a bit quieter but you should be able to find work there, too. Another very nice place to live!
The council might help
Go to your local command labor and get some temp work. You should be refered to a job as soon as you apply. Hope this helps :-)
Hi, Sorry to hear your predicament. I am from UK so I don’t know how things work there. But you do have a welfare system dont you? Why not go to them for help. Also if you have young children, there must be a way to get help with heating and rent. I hope you get help
Thanks for all the responses. I do apreciate it. I would like to stay in the states. I have called for some assistance but you have to be homeless it seems to get any help. I would relocate but no money to move. I feel I am just stuck. Please keep it coming. Thanks
The keep me warm program looks like it may help. Thanks

your welcome god bless you and your family
i’m so sorry, while i’m facing the same thing myself and i have a post on here also, i know the feeling and all i can do is pray for u.
Johnblk5 Thanks. I can use all the prayers and will do the same for you and others here needing so much help. I wish there was something in numbers we could do to make things better for all of us. I sometimes think that is a problem. I all to often watch people treating each other badly. I would love to see people care more for each other. I did see this when things were better. It is funny because all those people are gone when you have nothing to offer. I was amazed at how fast so many turned there back. I have always been giving and very happy I did when I could. I now see even more how important it was than ever. If I can ever do it I am going to start a community farm for people to feed themselves. I have a agriculture background wich does me no good. Farm do not even do well in Maine. I do believe a community farm would do very well. People could afford to pay what it actually cost to raise the produce without the huge markup.
i grew up on a farm, and boy how i long for those days…i didnt realize how good i had it on that farm with my loving grandfather and grandmother…in louisiana during the 50’s. then i got the glimmer of bright ligths big cities in my eyes and off i went and here i am, lol, but what i call a much much more sophisticated country boy. i feel everything u say, the backs turning on u and all…but i’m determined to use my adversities as bartering rams to knock down doors of opportunities…”our greatest seed of benefit is planted in our worse artrocities” a quote i read many years ago.
Yes you are correct. I will also work hard to get through this. I also at the same time never want to forget. I think this will help me stay determined to do something to make a difference for not just a few but many. I also worked on a farm for 7 years when I was younger. I never had a job I loved more. What a sense of satisfaction. That is why I would like to do a community farm. Imagine how great that would be.
Thanks, I wish you best of luck too
