everyone’s always b*tching about the state of the world…
yes, people are suffering, unemployment and population levels are rising, and the percentage of people in the world who will truthfully claim that they are happy is going down. perhaps it’s true that teenagers are insensitive, little kids are cruel, adults and parents and teachers are unstable, and they’re all trying to kill each other. yes, there’s alot of sh*t going on in the world, but I just want to ask the question:
Are you doing anything about it?
now I don’t necessarily mean that I expect everyone to donate money and time to the less fortunate. it would be kind and compassionate to do so - visit the elderly in nursing home, volunteer in a soup kitchen, collect donations for the poor, volunteer at a hospital, or register to be a big brother or sister for a foster child - but i know not all people can do this for one reason or another.
but what if you could make just one other person happy?
we moan and groan about the lack of community, the lack of lasting friendships, the lack of security, and the rise of lonliness. but are you doing anything about it?
how much less stressful, less lonely, less pressured, less difficult would this world be if we simply tried to make one more person happy?
and maybe it starts from within. i always thought it kind of sad that people must practice to be happy, but maybe that’s our only option. i know we all have our troubles, and every person has the right to mourn, but at some point we’ve got to go on living. you are never alone in your pain if you only reach out. and when we continue our lives, we need not live like we’re bearing the weight of the world on our shoulders. as much as everyone can try to do for you, only you can free yourself. this isn’t some sh*t that we say to make ourselves feel better - this is true, this is what happiness is all about. learn to feel beautiful, learn to feel powerful, learn to feel light and loved and excited to grow up and grow old. learn what it fscking means to just be alive. learn to be triumphant.
learn to live happily.

thank you for that! i really appreaciate a post like that. and i feel very much the way you do about it. only my downfall is i rely on others to initiate this type of attitude. But your absoutley right one should find it within themselves.
!!Nice Lecture!!
yea thats true and is going on now a days. we cant really stop this. This all is too much. The world is going to end. there are more pains than ever, there are more sorrows and sufferings than ever. no one in this world can claim that he is living happily. everyone has problems and sorrows in his life.
I just say that there is nothing left now. this world will really come to END one day.
thanks druantia! maybe someday you will.
and past, maybe someday you’ll be able to be happy too. as for myself, i can truly say that i am so happy to be alive. sorrows and all, i’m so dsmn glad to be here. :)
We rarely get a chance to see another country’s editorial about the USA .
Read this excerpt from a Romanian Newspaper. The article was written by Mr. Cornel Nistorescu and published under the title ‘C’ntarea Americii, meaning ‘Ode To America ‘) in the Romanian newspaper Evenimentulzilei ‘The Daily Event’ or ‘News of the Day’
~An Ode to America ~
Why are Americans so united? They would not resemble one another even if you painted them all one color! They speak all the languages of the world and form an astonishing mixture of civilizations and religious beliefs.
Still, the American tragedy turned three hundred million people into a hand put on the heart.
Nobody rushed to accuse the White House, the Army, or the Secret Service that they are only a bunch of losers.
Nobody rushed to empty their bank accounts.
Nobody rushed out onto the streets nearby to gape about.
Instead the Americans volunteered to donate blood and to give a helping hand.
After the first moments of panic, they raised their flag over the smoking ruins, putting on T-shirts, caps and ties in the colors of the national flag. They placed flags on buildings and cars as if in every place and on every car a government official or the president was passing. On every occasion, they started singing:’God Bless America !’
I watched the live broadcast and rerun after rerun for hours listening to the story of the guy who went down one hundred floors with a woman in a wheelchair without knowing who she was, or of the Californian hockey player, who gave his life fighting with the terrorists and prevented the plane from hitting a target that could have killed other hundreds or thousands of people.
How on earth were they able to respond united as one human being? Imperceptibly, with every word and musical note, the memory of some turned into a modern myth of tragic heroes. And with every phone call, millions and millions of dollars were put into a collection aimed at rewarding not a man or a family, but a spirit, which no money can buy.
What on earth can unite the Americans in such a way?
Their land? Their history? Their economic Power? Money?
I tried for hours to find an answer, humming songs and murmuring phrases with the risk of sounding commonplace, I thought things over, I reached but only one conclusion…. Only freedom can work such miracles.

I Disagree i think we can change the world. and people like iamozy are here to remind us that we can. if we all can find it within ourselves to do this (what iamozy suggests), it might very well reverbarate into all areas of society. Im sorry to quote rage but “it has to start somewhere”.
I think the sorrow and suffering we face it the world isnt necessarly worst i think its just differant than it used to be. its more internalized . the accounts of depression have risen significantly over the years.
I dunno i would like to think that the world has a regenrative force to it and we have the strength and power to perpetuate it.
I think this kind of organistions has some nice ideas :
wow, SoulRising, that article’s amazing. as an American, i catch wind of alot of anti-American sentiment on this site and on the internet in general. it’s nice to see that someone else can look on our culture and see the good in it. :)
the freedom and compassion Nistorescu described, however, is never limited to a single country, culture, or race. his poem describes the extent of passion and strength of humanity in general, and i hope we can each share a part in that.
i’m sure when the world is at its last straw someone will do something but for now i’ll just sit back and enjoy the show
i try to reach out and no ones there lol and then you just give up
no one’s there? i find that hard to believe.
but anyways, this post is actually focusing more on self-empowerment. strength doesn’t come from others. you can spend your entire life living off of other people but you will never learn to be strong until you can give back. this is even about staying strong even when people don’t always reciprocate, even when no one is holding you up. being strong is not giving up, even when you think you’re alone.
i wont give up till i either die or the illuminati get wiped off teh face of the earth!
:)
ha ha, thank you! you can be my veep :]
Look into what The United States Government has done in Chile, Cambodia, Iran, Egypt, Palestine, Philippines, Venezuela. The people of the United States might be a bunch of good intentioned people but your government is nothing to be proud of.
what does that have to do with making a single person happy? i’m seventeen. the government is currently not in my control. what have you done to account for the actions of your government?
but that is beside the point. what i’m saying here is that people who long for compassion should be compassionate people. people who want love, should love others. people who want help, can look to help someone else less fortunate than themselves.

Sry bout that, i dint read your second paragraph there. I thought there was a circle jerk of nationalism going on.
s’okay, no harm done. :) no real nationalism here - i’m just trying to get at a simpler subject with this post… :)

your last paragraph is starting to look like a Nobel Prize for peace.
Good on you.
ha ha, i’m practising, just in case… just kidding. :) i dunno, those words just seemed to make the most sense to me. :)
I agree with you 100%.
Why oh why can we not have people like you in positions of power.
May the Lord make it so. Maybe people make it so. May I make it so.
we cant have people like her in power because either they get killed before they can take office or its such a rough ride to the top and you have to be so depraved and unmoral to get there that once you are there you dont really care who you have stepped on/will step on
well, hopefully if i can’t help directly in such a way, i might be able to help out behind the scenes. that’s what i’m hoping for with this idea of making at least one person truly happy. you never know how far the consequences of your actions reach.
hey iamozy really nice post , it’s sad ppl dont see it’s potential tho
thanks tricky! but if i can just get through to ONE person, it will have been worth it. :)
All the bright shining stars in the sea of sadness really helps people on this site. I agree, there is a lot more positivity and beauty than people notice. Being idealistic is good, just don’t let the real world let you down when it comes at you. I think if we all had charity for each other the world would be a much better place. Like you said, I know I try to be the example that I want others to be.
aw, yay! thanks Yamato! [big smiles] :)
great post and some great replies. i thank you for it.
and i thank you wonderful people for taking the time to read it and responding :)
oops, i know that was deplorable grammar, but w/e :]
This is a great post, very inspiring words.
Helping others makes me happy. I think there’s way to much selfishness in the
world. Most of the really selfish people that I know are not truly happy.
Happiness feels best when it’s shared.
