My Poem

You have been the only guy
To change the colour of my sky
From a darkened, gloomy grey
To a cheerful sunny day
I never thought id feel such love
A fortunate blessing from above
Where would I be today?
You’ve shown me the way
My love for you grows strong
How could such tenderness be deemed wrong?
My soul cries without you
Tears fall into a sea of blue
I dream to be within your midst
To feel the sensation of being kissed
Forever remaining by your side
It’s worth life’s rollercoaster ride.

Wat do you think guys?

I think it’s great to be in love - the one downside of having a long-term relationship is that you cannot relive the first few weeks and months again..

That’s an amazing poem. Do you do a lot of poetry because I have recently started and mine are… well not as good as this one. You make me so jealous. Once again, great poem.

I guess all sorts of art are like that. Art is a form of expressing emotion and if you aren’t in the moment, then you can’t express it as well. If you do any more poetry you should really show it on here.

I would contest that true art comes from being outside the moment, to get to the roots of the emotions without being blinded by them. To paint a mental picture on the canvas of one’s mind by using words that swell from deep within, words that only come from the well-spring of experience. It’s one thing to write from the moment, but it’s another thing entirely to write from the anti-moment.

Would you like to keep writing? Because you’ve got potential. This poem is pretty full of clichés but you’ll get that with writing for the first time. Still, you’ve got a pretty good sense of structure and rhythm, two very important things to have when writing poetry.

If you would like to keep writing, try crafting a poem from the ‘anti-moment’; bring up a memory of something that was full of emotion and write from those memories. Then post it in here. You may be surprised at what comes out.
