Yeah thats what I envy about America, I mean you have HUGE houses for half the price it costs here for a small 2 bed 1 bath thing..
I have seen pics af American houses and hardly any are as small as our UK houses and yet half Americans say their house is too small, I mean whats that about?

Anyhow lol that was not what you were posting about sorry..

I think you should be happy in your job and if not happy you should at least not hate doing it, so maybe a change around would help you, sometimes just a new routine helps to keep your mind on the go.
Change your hours and days maybe and see if it helps.

Not to siderail the original posters message but…

Think very, very hard about moving anywhere to the US from Europe right now. With the dollar devaluation against the British pound and the Euro, I dont think you would like it very much when you were offered any sort of ‘competitive” salary in the states. Now, if you have a decent amount of money saved up and you move here then you will probably do well.

Even with the aggregate US housing prices dropping 12ish% over the last quarter, housing prices on both coasts are highly inflated and not anywhere close to what they are really worth. Couple the dropping home values and the governments inability to reduce the local taxes on homes, we have a terrible situation in which houses are worth very little (in most cases negative values of what they were originally paid for) but owners are still paying taxes on the inflated values.

If you want to come to the US, wait a year then come in and buy asmuch real estate as you possibly can. In 7-10 years you will make a fortune when you resell.

I could babble on and on…

To the original poster:

I’ve found, through experience, that you should go for the highest paying job first and foremost. Enjoying your jobis nice, but just taking a job for that reason is silly. I dont love or hate my job but I get paid very well and at the end of the day go home and dont think about it at all.

It would be nice to “love” doing something as a career but I would rather get paid well and love being with my family.

Americans aren’t lucky because they have big houses for cheap. They’re stupid, because they almost always go heavily into debt they’ll never get out of, debt they can’t usually afford, to do so. That’s part of why the dollar is weak (in addition to the war), because people borrowed a lot of money they can’t afford only to find themselves in an underwater mortgage that they bail out of.

When I can afford a house with cash, nah, I’ll probably just rent one instead. It’s cheaper and I can leave anytime.
