Well, I my last big crush was kind of a mistake on my part. We were lab partners for one semester, but she was already dating some guy. In order to stay in the picture I took Organic Chem 1 & 2, even though it was not required for my major (but I found out later I’m getting a minor out taking them). So we were lab partners for an additional year and became pretty good friends, but the situation never changed and she’s still with her boyfriend. Still, I don’t blame her and I don’t really regret anything.

That’s kind of the big picture. Here’s a funnier story:
On one of our labs, I messed up horribly. She helped me catch back up to where I could finish in time. As the lab was ending, she asked me if we were supposed to throw away our TLC Plates (which are stipes of paper about 1X6 in. long) and I told her yes.
Two days later I started writing the lab report and read the statement “ATTACH TLC PLATE HERE.” Feeling that I was partially responsible and that I owed her for helping me, I looked online to see how much they cost and the cheapes pack I could find was about $40 and would take a month to be delivered. I then went to the Chemistry building and snuck in when a grad student was exiting. I tried to sneak into our lab room/supply room, but all the doors were locked. I then left the building through the back and walked by a dumpster. I climbed the side of the dumpster and started moving the trash bags around, hoping to find something that resembled a TLC plate. After about an half-hour of searching, I didn’t find anything. I went through a bags dozen shreaded documents, bathroom handtowels, and broken glass. Then as I moved one bag it tore open, and was full of paper towels. After searching the bag, I found some of the materials we had used in our lab. I then found a TLC plate, but it was pretty damaged, so I kept going through to find a lesser damaged one. I ended up with about 10 plates and then I found my lab partners. I was pretty psyched and I knew mine had to be there (even though I really just wanted to give hers back). Then an older man walked out from the building and I put the bag down and nodded at him. He nodded back and walked away for a second. I noticed the big “SECURITY GUARD” letters written on his back. I threw the bag back in the dumpster and walked back to the garage. I got in my car and drove through campus, parked illegally, ran to the dumpster, grabbed the trash bag, and drove away with the bag in my car. When I got back to my room with the trash bag, my roommate was a little puzzled, but after simply stating, “I need this for chemistry,” he quit questioning and we went out to eat. I found my plate in the bag later that night.
I told two of my other friends about me dumpster diving. One of my friends advised that I do not give her the TLC plate as it would be a strong signal that I had a crush on her and it might kill the friendship. My other friend advised that I just claim that I found it without explaining how I got it.
The next O. Chem. lecture, I gave her back the strip without explaining how I got it. She then asked, “Oh, do we need this?” Being a little surly, I pulled out my lab-manual and showed her the directions. After the lecture, I asked her about her weekend. She went on to tell me about this story that involved an old lady driving through a building that her and her boyfriend were shopping at. Luckily her boyfriend heroically got the old lady out of the car and he parked the car safely. After a fairly lengthy conversation about that, she asked how my weekend was. Trying to one-up her boyfriend, I told her the whole dumpster diving story.

Ran away from my foster home at 15 years old at 4AM in the morning, took a 10-hour train ride to another state, waited for them, and they drove 8 hours (it’s longer on a train) to drop me back home.

Then whenever he mentions to be with someone knew, I smile, and hope to God he’s happy this time.
