Taxes are the best thing in the US.
But I have not filed mine for the past 5 years and now I am going back to school and for my financial aid I need my 2006 tax returns. Anyone have any info on how to go about accomplishing this? I dont have the w2’s anymore either. All help would be welcomed thank you for reading.

Where were you?
You can also watch events on Help.com as they happen
Try tax masters. I think their site is txmstrs.com.
I called tax masters they said that they can only help after I file my returns and owe a substantial amount of money. Then they can settle with the IRS but they dont do any prep work. But thank you for the info. I know more than I did when I posted. Thanks again.
Contact the IRS http://www.irs.gov/contact/index.html
Why didn’t you file any returns? Are you young or are you just going back to school. If you where making a decent wedge in the last 5 years and didn’t file you are most likely to be penalized for it. Be prepared for litigation.
The main reason why I havnt filed is that I am lazy. I am aware that I am going to be penalized. 2 of the years I was under the table. One year I owed 500 this year I owe 300 so I dont foresee it being more than 10 grand at the most and the Irs will work with you on that. My main problem is laziness. I am 30 so I should nbo better but you live and learn. In the future explain what you mean by litigation since it such an ominous word. As long as you set up payment and pay then you will not lose anything or get jailtime.
You most certainly do jail time for not filling your taxes and/or you could lose property or your future wedges garnished by the IRS. Not filling your taxes is a crime; its not just something you don’t have to do because you where lazy.
If you need financial aid to go to school where are you going to get the money to pay back your taxes and penalties? The IRS will work with you that is correct, they would rather get something rather than nothing. But don’t believe the tax services that tell you they will negotiate some pennies on the dollar deal for you. They are lying and your still going to owe them for their services when they come back after getting you a rotten deal.
You really need to find out some more info since I am talking to the Irs and actually I havnt filed since 98 and they are sending me all the info I need to file everything. But thank you.
Also I make enough money to pay for everything. Like I said I have been lazy. But thank you for your concern and help.
So the IRS is sending me my W2’s from 2000 and a formto get the other 2 years. Agent stated that they havnt been looking for a return from since I havnt owed money. Said statute of limitations on refunds are 3 years so I will get refunds for the past 3 years. So my situation isnt as dire as I previously thought it was.

Then you should count your self lucky that the IRS is willing to work with you.

IRS problems increase if you do not file a tax return. Statutes of limitations or timelines are allowed by the Tax Code so the IRS can go after nonfilers.
Criminal: Criminal charges may be brought against you within six years of the date that the tax return needed to be paid.

If you make enough money to pay for everything why do you need financial aid in the first place?
How many people can pay for college plus household at the same time? Maybe people that have already gone to college. I am not sure why it seems that you want to fight about this it isnt really that big a deal. IRS is willing to work with anybody.
Criminal: Criminal charges may be brought against you within six years of the date that the tax return needed to be paid.
Civil: There will be no deadlines but civil penalties may be imposed. The taxes you need to pay will be forever assessed with interest and penalties.
IRS policy: The IRS does not normally pursue a nonfiler after 6 years from the filing deadline.
This is a copy from the website link you posted
Main thing for criminal is that it states that you can go to jail for not paying it within 6 years. It doesnt state that you will go to jail for not filing.
Oh also that the IRS does not normally pursue a nonfiler after 6 years, imagine that

In a recent highly publicized The IRS has recently helped sentence Wesley Snipes to three years in prison in a case where he failed to file his taxes. And so they are most certainly not willing to work with everyone.
If you can not pay for your house hold and school how can you claim ” I make enough money to pay for everything” when you do not.
Are you serious? An average person makling 40k a year maybe owing 300 after filing versus someone making multi millions and not filing. Think about that before you try to use it as an example. Who can pay for schooling out of pocket? That is why there are grants and aid. Plus being a veteran I get a little somnething. So you are right I cannot pay for both on my own but with financial aid and loans I can. I just need my 2006 return to file for financial aid. That is why I asked for help. Is that clear enough for you or would you like to debate about this issue some more?
I used the Snipes case because I assumed you would know of it. Plenty of other people have gone to jail for tax evation.
I paid for my schooling out of pocket, so some people can.
Why is it that you where to lazy to pay your taxes but now you arent to lazy to seek the benifit of other peoples taxes?
I was never to lazy to pay my taxes I just didnt file so darn I didnt pay 800 dollars total in 10 years. I have been too lazy and guess what I miss out on the stimulus check that is being given out to people where I live and that is more than the taxes I owe. So just for conversation sake how much did you pay for school? Also grants and loans are not other peoples taxes and what tax do you pay that pays for financial aid I am just curious. Since I pay into it myself. Not paying your taxes means working under the table or using welfare I do neither just because you dont file doesnt mean anything since the majority of the years that I havnt filed I had a return coming back to me so it cost me much more money by not filing. Also since the IRS doesnt seem to be too concerned with the situation why are you?
OCALA, Fla. - Wesley Snipes was released on $1 million bond after pleading not guilty to federal charges including falsely claiming millions of dollars in tax refunds, two months after he was indicted in central Florida.
Like I said multi millions have no comparison to 800 dollars. But I wouldnt mind knowing how you paid for school out of pocket that would be useful for people. Exspecially since the average cost of a four year college is over 30,000 dollars.
