Well first you need to talk to your friends as no one else is going to do this for you but them, and even that’s iffy, friends often only go as far as money is not an issue.

But, what do you need a loan for? You should understand that there is a reason that the Bank is not willing to give you a lone on your own and that is because statically a person in your position has a good chance of not being able to pay for it. Now that sucks for the bank, but in reality its going to suck for you even more. The bank can stand to loss 30K like its nothing. You on the other hand will have put your self and your life back censurably. You should really think about if it is a risk that is worth taking or perhaps there is another way to go about doing what ever it is you need to do.

Have you thought about using a debt consolidation firm? I would imagine that they help in situations like this, most of their clients would be in your position and they would not be able do business if they turned people away with bad credit or bad situations? But I don’t know as I have never suit their services.

Also you added that you need the money for “other personal use” besides your debt. Did you consider taking this portion of the loan off? The bank may be willing to give you a lone for less on your own. Consolidate your debt and worry about your other personal needs in another way.

In all honesty it’s unfair to ask your friends to cosign your debt so you can consolidate. They’re signing a promise to pay back the money if you fail to pay. I have some amazing friends, but I would never, EVER co-sign a $30,000 loan for ANY of them, EVER. Too risky.

Follow da11’s advice, get a debt consolidation company to help you… and I would forget about the “other personal use” you had in mind for the money. Borrowing MORE money is a terrible way to get out of debt.

Don’t assume what your friends are going to say. If you have a great reason for why you need them and they are understanding, then I’m sure they will be happy to help. As long as your a good friend and won’t screw them over I’m sure they will be more than happy to help. Remember that saying “WHAT ARE FRIENDS FOR.”
