Self esteem and confidence comes from the understanding and belief that there is a quality about you… or some skill or talent that you posses that is above average or even something that you excel at. So you find these talents (even if you have to ask someone) and you bring how you feel about those into everything else you do. It is having a healthy ego. This is not to say you have to be conceited or anything like a primadonna… you just have to know I’m good. For example. I am a good actor. When I am performing, everyone believes my performance. People feed my ego in this regard so it’s kinda easy for me to see it. So now I know what it feel like to excel in something. I can now take that feeling and apply it to other area’s of my life. The confidence I get from acting… can be used to help me try new things… help me get up and speak in front of crowds, it helps me talk and listen to people. All of this builds confidence and the more I do, the more confidence and self esteem I build.
So the question is; what are you good at? Are you good at art, are you good at playing a musical instrument? Are you good at math? Are you good at standing in a line without getting mad (patience - which is an EXCELLENT talent to have). There are thousands of things that you do or qualities that you have… LOVE those good things that you do and what make you who you are. After you can love those things about yourself, confidence and self esteem are just around the corner.
