Idk what to do..

See, i met this guy. And he claims he’s in love with me. He asked me if i loved him back as more then friend and i told him no. He’s been having all these other problems in his life lately and he doesn’t know how to handle it. He says its like wanting someone you can’t have. I know how that feels, and it doesn’t feel good. He’s been doing really stupid stuff lately [Like cutting, suicide attempts] and the only way i can help is by going out with him..I tried talking to him but that doesn’t work.
What should i do?

You’re heart is in the right place and you are so selfless really, but you are not trained to help him and if you did for a while it would only be temporary. susanp79 is right, call the number and don’t regret it.

yeah, you’ve done good, and you have a caring heart. but professional advice would be great. get a doctors opinion or various other trained sources such as above.
don’t worry or feel bad about yourself. you’ve done the best anyone could so far, i’m sure. goodluck! ;)

I know this is really hard, but you wouldn’t be doing him any favors by deceiving him either. He has to come to terms with the truth… leading him on will only make it hurt more, so you did the right thing by being straight with him about how you felt. You can’t just go out with him because of pity or fake something you don’t feel… that’s not fair to either of you. But you CAN be a good friend to him and do whatever you can to help him through…. or helping him to get help. Is he seeing a counselor, I hope??

i honestly dont think you should go out with him. if he knows your only doing it for that reason and not because you actually want to be with him, you could end up hurting him even more, and maybe even urself. just stay friends with him and help him through his hard time, but dont put urself in a position you dont wanna be in…especially one that wont be easy to get out of.

Yeah… don’t go out with him unless you like him. Like people said, you might hurt him even more. And also, it would be horrible for you. He is a really really needy person, and there is no way you can give him everything he needs. Get him professional help, and remember that you did your very best for him. His unhappyness and depression is not your fault.
Also, if he’s already saying he loves you… just be careful, thats all.
