hey i was bored so i wrote a short poem.

i posted it on poetry.com so go rate it please. search saeb haidar in the search box. tell me wat u think.

New love, so sweet, like golden honey,
much better than gold, silver, diamonds or money.
Gaze into the eyes of the one that has your heart,
wishing that you two would never be apart.
You love her so much, in your head you know,
that you will hold her forever, and never let her go…

and to the person who wrote the poem, its good., honestly, it is

Don’t you mean “write” a poem?

Of course a poem can be cliche. Don’t be an idiot.

Cliche isn’t plagiarism, you fools. Cliche means it’s been done before. It’s not creative. It’s all been said. For God’s sake you wrote “Your love … is better than gold” which is in the Bible - Song of Songs! And what about “never let her go”? You sure you’ve never heard or read that anywhere before?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cliche

But I don’t blame you. Love poetry is impossible to write without cliche, which is why Shakespeare spoofed it with his anti-love sonnets (”anti” being used in its proper meaning as “the opposite of” not “against”; just had to make it clear since some people don’t understand words). But then what am I talking about? I’m sure you’ve never willingly or voluntarily read Shakespeare.

And by the way, my criticism is pretty darn constructive considering all of the poems posted on Help.com are crap. I’m saying that your poem in particular is very run-of-the-mill, and no-one wants to be that. Do something different man. What’s stopping you? Why do you have to regurgitate everything from teen movies and what you see on Smallville?
