Birth Control Pills…

Ladies, help!

I have been on birth control for about 6 months now. I was under the impression that the pill would help with my PMS. However, every month, I still break out, have cravings, and feel tired. This always happens the week before my period (while I am still on the active pills). How can this be since I am on the pill? I thought all of this was supposed to go away! Can you still get PMS symptoms while on the pill??

You can still get pms symptoms while on the pill. There are many brands and we are all different. Talk to your doctor. Maybe a different type of pill will give you the relief you were hoping for.

Some brands do actually help control all those pesky things…but the ones I’ve tried (all 6 types!) don’t do much for me other than make my period lighter. Sounds like you’ve been on this one long enough to know it’s not really giving you what you want, so I’d second that doctor suggestion.

So, even if you are on the pill, your body still knows to have a period? I am confused because my prescriber made it sound like if you are on the pill, when you have your period it’s not a “real period.” Therefore, I assumed it wasn’t possible to have PMS. I guess she didn’t explain it very well. :(

have you tried yaz?? i heard it’s suppose to stop all of that. i’m about to try it.. when i go back to my doctor again.. i’m on the depo shot currently and all i have to say is i HATE it. i do enjoy the no period thing.. but the mood swings.. break outs.. and especially weight gain! is killing me.. ugh :( only postitive aspects.. no period.. and 1 shot every 3 months. but guh the side effects.. to me anyhow.. aren’t worth it.
