Try to remember that eating disorders cannot be helped by a friend. You can be loving and kind, but sometimes being oversympathetic is more a hinderance than a help. The other gal that is aggravating you, she may be seeking attention. However, keep in mind that she probably still has legitimate issues with an eating disorder.
Perhaps there could be an underlying issue besides the attention seeking stuff that aggravated you about her? Does she remind you of someone, or does something that make you feel a certain way? Try to be compassionate yet in an empathetic form. Hope you find some less depressing/non eating disorder friends that you can relate to besides those two. Don’t be the rescuer……you can’t rescue anybody. Good Luck.

Because she probably is doing it for show. Shes probably upset that her friend is getting more attention. Its just the way people work I have an ex-friend just like hit her bf has therapy and all of a sudden she starts cutting herself saying how horrible her life is when she has a great life with decent parents! People are just like that
Dont worry about it

Hmm.
What are the natures of both eating disorders?

Even if the only reason F has an eating disorder is that she needs attention… that’s still an eating disorder, still dangerous and if it goes unchecked, could kill her.

Life can be really difficult sometimes, and we all have strange ways of “trying” to deal with it. HOWEVER, we don’t always deal in a healthy good way. The best thing we can all do…. is learn to cope the healthiest way we can. That even means going to a counselor to learn why we cope unhealthy so we can learn to cope healthier. Life is to precious to live it out suffering,,,we need to learn how to attain joy.
Best Wishes

confused, why dont i feel sorry for her?
my friend R suffers from an eating disorder, and from depression, and i understand why, and have tried to help her. but her best friend F now also suffers from an eating disorder, but i dont get it with her, its like she got annoyed that everyone was paying more attention to R. i really dont get it with her. its like F is doing it just for show. Why do i just feel anger towards her?????
