Rebecca is 12 Mum is 48
in 6 yrs Rebeca is 16 mum is 52
Want the solution?
That should be in 6 years Rebecca is 18 - mum is 54 but anayway the original answer of 12 stands correct!
Rebecca=x
Mum =y
Y=4x
also Y+6=3(x+6)
therfore 4x+6=3(x+6)
(4x+6)/3 = X=6
(4/3)x+2=x+6
(4/3)x=x+4
(1/3)x=4
x=12
Simple!
Here’s one for you…
3 men go into a motel. the man behind the desk said the room is £30 - so each man paid £10 and went to the room.
A while later the man behind the desk realized the room was only £25 so he sent the bellboy to the 3 guys’ room with £5.
On the way the bellboy couldn’t figure out how to split £5 evenly between 3 men, so he gave each man a £1 and kept the other £2 for himself.
This meant that the 3 men each paid £9 for the room, which is a total of £27, add the £2 that the bellboy kept = £29.
Where is the other pound?
Let me know if you need the answer.
Sending £5 will the bellboy and retaing £25.00 means at that stage each person had ttechnically paid £8.3333(recurring) + £1.00 returned to them means each paid
9.33×3=£27.99 (rounded to 28.00) + £2.00 to the bellboy
Well done though I had to think for a second!

Took me a while to figure it out, but that is indeed correct. =)
OK different explanation the guys overpaid for the room by £2.00
It should have been £25 - they paid £27 the extra £2 was pocketed by the bellboy. You misdirected by added the £2.00 to get £29.00 rather than subtract it.
Their is no missing money!
Better.
Yes, There is no other pound.
You don’t ADD the £2 the bellboy kept, you SUBTRACT it to give you the £25 that they paid. If you want to get it to equal £30 you take the £27 that they paid and add the £3 that they got back.
