Fell help: A terrible earthquake had happened in southwest of China on May 12th. - Help.com

A terrible earthquake had happened in southwest of China on May 12th.

I don’t know whether you know it or not. There have been more than 11921 people dead right now. I fell very sad and lucky at the same time— sad for the dead and wounded, lucky for myself and my family. Because the quake happened in Sichuan province and I live in Chongqing (a neighbor of Sichuan province), it’s really very lucky to just fell the shake but do not get hurt.
Like me most of Chinese know little about the earthquake. To us the earthquake is very rare, so most of us lack the basic knowledge of how to escape and the knowledge of first aid.
I know that some of you don’t like us for many reasons. But for the god’s sake, please stop hating and help us.
And before the day of the quake I saw a lot of foreign visitors in Dujiangyan (a famous place of interest only 80km away from the central of quake). If right now you have friends or families travelling in China especially in the central part of Sichuan Province try your best to contact them. Yesterday all the phones can’t get through, but today we can get through most of the calls.
Pray for the dead, pray for the wounded, pray for all the people living in the world. No more death, no more wound.

Hi Xizhen, I’m glad that you and your family are ok. I live in the UK and the earthquake has been widely publicised here. It is a horrible tragic disaster and I hope that China gets the support and aid that it needs. Countries need to support each other because EVERYONE is affected by natural disasters.

Do you really think that this is the right place to share that information? Thousands of people have died in China, hundreds are still trapped in schools, homes, and hospitals, dying or dead. Have some compassion for those and save the trival stuff for a trival post please.

Perhaps you should direct that commment to your own government, Xizhen. This disaster is the first time tha China has been really public with what is going on within their own borders. So far, they haven’t really cared about you and your family enough to really ask for help from the international community…

I realize that you can’t control your government. So I will help in any way that I can! Do you know of any relief agencies working in China, specifically with victims of the earthquake?

Hello Xizhen,

I have been following the situation closely, reading whatever I can, because I have seen how beautiful China is, and I am very saddened by this situation. I am going to Chongqing this summer, for the HanBan High School Chinese Language Bridge and would really like to do something to help, as would the other people on the trip. Do you know if there is anything in particular that we can do to help? Or certain supplies that we can bring from Canada or the UK when we go? Medical supplies, food packets, or if we can go and volunteer in some of the affected areas to help. We would like to help, but do not know how to.

As to governmental issues Gimli…that is not relevant. These people are in need of our help, and we must look past government differences and actions and give our efforts to help them.
