Anyone else binge eat when you feel depressed?
Any ideas of how to deal with all the sadness and loneliness without doing that. Eating seems to be the only thing that takes my mind of the pain for a minute, but I already have a bad body image and I don’t want to gain weight. I need to find a new way to deal with everything, any help out there?

You simply desire to enjoy yourself when you’re depressed. A natural reaction. What else do you enjoy doing?
Whenever I start feeling sad, and like I’m about to binge, I go and throw darts at my dartboard. I don’t know, it helps.
I don’t know, I like to listen to music and dance
i dont know that this is a better option but i find that video gaming takes my mind off of depressing thoughts. also, i almost always come here when i’m down and help about 10 people and after that i’ve completely forgotten about my depression and feel tons better. just find something to keep both your mind and hands busy.
It’s just the food that gives me comfort and makes me feel better.
I do come on here and try to help others, that does work sometimes
its a psychological thing. food makes you feel good, fills your stomach, releases endorphins. like the quick road to fake happiness. i’ve heard exercising helps with depression but i haven’t tried it. just try to find another activity to keep your mind and hands busy so you won’t think about eating or your sadness.
When I feel like eating something that is not healthy I take a vitamin and brush my teeth to remind myself that I want to be healthy.
Try an experiment - Buy some organic powdered cayanne pepper, and sprinkle that into WHATEVER you’re going to eat. It will give your taste buds a kick, improve your circulation, start to lessen yeast and parasites, interrupt the knee-jerk food reaction and possibly have an uplifting effect on your energy - ie relieve some of the depression.
I find that if I allow myself to eat when I’m down, but force myself to cook myself something that takes time and effort, as opposed to cracking out the crisps right away, I eat less and feel ten times better. Give it a go.
1- learn to love yourself and your body
2- if you like dancing, why dont you dance when you feel depressed… exercise bring on endorphins which naturally make you feel better and if you must eat, eat something healthy
i suggest starting a hobby i dont know play basketball or something if that doesnt work why dont you go to the gym and stuff you will meet ppl there and stuff it would be nice just to get ur mind off ur problems and stuff …
i used to start stuffing my face full of junk food and then after i felt sick i would realise what i had done, we just go for comfort and for most people food is the most readily available source, just try to be aware that you are doing it, when you are having cravings for some food just stop yourself and be aware of what you are doing, that helps a lot, probably wont stop you doing it but if you are aware of when you do it then you can think why you are doing it and take the first step in stopping it
and teh gym LOL its the hardest place to go when you are feeling like this, but i spose you will say kick yourself up the butt and try to do it, well i wasted over 200 pounds on a gym membership i didn’t even use coz i was alone and had no motovation to go… dont waste your money on a gym membership, go for a relaxing walk in the park, its free!

Hello! Find something that will remedy your life not just the moment. I suffer from severe chronic depression and I’m the same way I love food and it makes me happy but, I have two children and people say if I’m a model!! You know why? Well I EXCERSISE is the best way!! Eat healthy food!! Don’t eat starchy and white bread pasta and white rice IT IS THE WORSE FOR DEPRESSION!. So start by a promise to yourself and eat 6 times a day at leat 3 days of excersise CARDIO is good to let out steam. BELIEVE ME!!! PLEASE! You will feel better emotionally, Look Good!, and your self-esteem will improve!!. I’m telling you from my own experience and others! Hopefully you will follow my advice and share it with others. Thanks!
I would go for a walk. Walking is a great way to destress, de-anything you’re going through. It gives you a good feeling about yourself when you’re walking becasue you know it’s good for you, it releases endorphins (Feel good stuff) and gives you time to get in some quality “think” time. Usually when you give yourself the time to think, things usually begin to make better sense. What doesn’t make sense is shoveling food down your throat which will make you that much more depressed because you know it’s NOT what you want to be doing. Don’t get me wrong, I’m guilty too but I do know better and I do know that walking does in deed make a difference.
Also, try tossing a prayer out there, there are some Mighty Big ears up there!
