I have tried so many times, I have called my ISP and we talked for an hour and a half and tried to fix the problem.

NOTHING.

The story starts like this… I used to download and share files with others A LOT about a year and a half ago, Next thing you know we get a wii and a lab top so my family decides to get wireless. Ever since we got the wireless my soulseek has not worked.

the port is always closed, I have tried many ports, I have gone into my router settings, and tried to set up a static IP on port forwarding but have always gotten lost somewhere into it.

The thing that troubles me is that when I go to test if the port is open, It tells me IP: 76. 71. xx. xx port : 4500 IS CLOSED. [so i go into my router managing and go to port forwarding/triggering.

I already have one port that is “slsk 4500 4500 192.xxx.x.x”
This obviously has not worked.

so I try to change it too.. “slsk 4500 4500 76.71.xx.xx” seeing as how that is what it is telling me is closed. EXCEPT when I click okay it says “Server IP address must be a LAN IP address.”

Is it only this program telling you the port is closed or is the port actually closed?

Is the IP you set up in the router consistent with your computer’s IP? (192.168.x.x)

Did you set it to allow both TCP/IP and UDP?

You can’t enter any old number here. It has to be your computer’s IP.
Go Start->Run and type in cmd. A command prompt will open. Type in ipconfig to see your IP. You need to enter this IP in the router settings.
