*big hugs* You will be ok! You just need to keep living your life! Many people have gone through what you are and end up living very fulfilling lives. Sometimes there lives end up being more fulfilling. I new a student who was going blind. Her spirit was so beautiful. She did not let it stop her from living and either should you. She was beautiful without her eyesight and she lived life more than us with our sight. Hand in there!!

That’s not quite true so, as yet, you are not getting the best advice from your health provider. You can get a gold plated mesh which is like a contact lens for glaucoma, you can join trials at the Moorfield Eye Hospital. I could go on but it’s probably more important you realise that the day you get a diagnosis like this is a bit of a trauma. Dont go around the internet reading how bad things can be. Talk about your worries right now. Get out your fears then ask everyone to send you in the direction of all the new things out there relating to sight. Come on. You must be pretty frightened right now.
Get a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th opinion. When do you go to the specialist?
potentially, he said… right?
i’m so sorry.
if this happens, will you go completely blind?
my sister’s finance is blind, although he can see blurs and such. he lives completely normally besides the face he cannot drive. the only restrictions there is that they’ll have to live where there is high public transportation.
he paints, he plays instruments, he’s amazing.
i guess that is to say that even if you do loose your vision, all is not lost.

oul is so right though… get more opinions.
doctors thought my sister had a heart murmur once… she went a few other places and it ended up just being a mistake in the way that the first doctor tested her.
keep us updated.

Yes! Get more opinions!
Don’t stop until you get more options!
Let me know when you find out for sure what it is, I will do some research.
That’s bad, sorry. I got bad news at the doctors yesterday, but nothing like that. I hope all the best for you! *squidges*
Hello there, it must be very difficult for you getting that news from your doctor. Try to see if there are still other ways or anything that would make it less difficult for you.
Thinking of you,

well i go to the specialist in a month, i dont even have insurence. my regular doc already found out i have tumors on my spine, im thinkin of making out a living will
Dear Jeanie, wait until you learn more, and believe in the best outcome. If “it may be glaucoma,” believe in that – as the worst that could happen. Look at these web sites I just found. There are lots of ways to treat glaucoma. About the tumors, they could go too. Where do you live? Are there herbalists and doctors of Oriental Medicine nearby?

That is horrible… What do you say to a post like this.
“Get well soon”? “Hope you can still see a year from now?”
I guess there is nothing to say. Just hope for the best.
~squidges~ wow that is some big news to take in. I dont know what to say about the possibility of you losing your eye sight. However I can offer advice right now - find a teddy bear from when you were young and some popcorn and fizzy drink and watch a couple of movies in your PJs and forget about the World for a few hours. Your probably feeling pretty confused right now and need some time for it to settle in. Dont get your self stressed or anything - there is no point doing that. Besides - as other users have said - you might be the 5% and the doctors may be able to do some thing out it.
thank you Florie ^_^ it was the 1st thing I could think of and the 1st thing I would want to do
I think getting in your PJs is good to do ANY time (and all the rest, too). :)
hehe yeah ^_^ teddy bear hugging days - truth is we all need those kind of days some times
yeah…a month is a long wait though…but i will deal with it…i always deal with everything else
Oh Jeanie,
Its scary and frustrating to face the ongoing decline of your vision. I’ve been turned down for lasik because of too thin cornea’s. I just recently went myself, and it was worse again. I was told I was a good candidate for glaucoma. No sign now but “I had the kind of eyes susceptible to it”. The good news is no one in my family has had it. So I hope I skate. But I am getting worse and worse. I’ve dealt with mine since I was a kid.
You know though my hearing, is incredible and my memory. I learned to do that at a young age. I couldn’t see what they were talking about on the board, so I memorized what they were saying. It’s amazing how your other senses take over.
Don’t panic Jeanie, it will be what it is. You can make adjustments in your life. I use aids sometimes, I carry a little magnifing glass in my wallet, (my family got me for the kitchen. I had to stop driving at night (night blindness). So I plan my errands for the day.
I face maybe losing it altogether too. I love to read, I love peeking and taking pictures of wildlife and camping.
I have been thinking about learning braille now. This makes me consider it more seriously. Maybe prepare for the possibility of losing it altogether. What about dogs? You can still get around and have a hell of a buddy. People love you and will assist with your life changing. I think maybe if you go to a center where there are blind people and talk, it could dissipate some real fears. Maybe talk to someone blind since birth. They know no other way and live their lives. Others who had sight and lost would tell you about the transition and help they received. What will happen will, Jeanie, and how you face it, is your mission.
