I would love to meet so many of you, I wonder if we did a poll and found how many are seriously interested, then we could figure what area most of us are in and come up with a halfway point to meet.
Of course schedules, responsability’s and the like would be crazy, and almost a miracle if then was a good time for everyone. But you never know, when there’s a will there’s a way.

I had mentioned this to lillies a while back , I think it’s a good idea , it may be difficult to meet but I think it’s worth looking into.

i think lazydaze should organized it, she seems like the perfect cheerful person for the job :O)

Babacup that’s good idea about Oprah. (spellcheck) Part of my job in music biz, was getting Artists/Bands on shows. I still have lot of contacts you never know they might find it interesting that suck a site excists and actually helps. I am sure they would love a bunch of loonys like us, spanking, massaging etc LOL (joke) Seriously they may. I could approach them. As for setting it up, We all need time to organise ourselves, money etc. So if we aim for a month eg September and see who can come set a couple of days for it. and a bit nearer Sept see what date. :)

Don’t bet the farm on Oprah funding a documentary. I do video for a living, and in order to do a documentary on help, Harpo Productions would need to travel to multiple locations to interview the members. They don’t air the equivalent of home-made youtube videos.

But we COULD do a documentary if members would each do a short video self-interview from their own location. They wouldn’t even necessarily have to say their real names or locations. And if some of us really do decide to meet, we could document that too. The end product could be edited and uploaded to youtube and other video servers at a minimum, and we could offer it to PBS or other public broadcasting networks. It would be interesting, considering that our community is international. I really don’t see much commercial potential for it though.

We could put together a video regardless of whether or not we meet.

But if we did meet (say at the Democratic Convention in Chicago) I think it would be interesting how we would react to each other, and how it would change our interaction here. I chose my puppy avatar randomly. It hides the forehead wrinkles and the gray. Many of us apparently feel more comfortable behind an image of something or someone else.

Or we could just upload various scenes from “One flew over the Cookoo’s Nest” and be done with it.

I guess if the travel and all that are so expensive and people couldn’t travel, why not help.com people of each country meet in that country…I mean set a date and each group, like that of US meet in US and that of canada meet in canada and ect….

I think that meetings like this one might change this site’s concept…I mean people here don’t know each other and because of that they talk freely and post their problems but when they’ll know the others by personal, then they might stop talking in a certain way, and they might just get new friends and a big family… I don’t know, I think I’m some how confused what to think about the whole meeting idea :)

But, well, it didn’t come out that bad…

I’d love to do this, but i’m 17 so i’m afraid i’d have to wait until next year before i could travel very far.

we have talked about this often and it’s very apparent that we all want it pretty badly. we should bug CNET to make a get together. or we could start selling those T-shirts that Mas was talking about in a previous post to raise money.

Hopefully we can get this going, and i hate to change the subject…but how would you all feel about getting 2 members of help together, in a more permanent situation?

What are the reasons for the gathering, what would we do, would charity “help” activities be out of the question.

Maybe we should seriously consider what the agenda would be so we can all be on the same page.

Las Vegas is indeed varied in it’s recreational options, from casinos of course, to fishing, Hoover Dam, Pahrump….just kidding……..but I think a lot of people are looking for different things, and I don’t know, other than creating some informal itinerary, how it would play out?

My father-in-law is getting married in Vegas August 8th. So I will be there then.

Many people are not what they seem because of the perceptions of others……….
There are many different personality traits that have to be dealt with face to face that some people can’t even deal with over the net. It’s nice to think about, but I can foresee a lot of good times with head butting….lol

I have met a person that I started talking to online, but it was someone that I had talked to for 4 years prior. Yep, Yep, Yep, I totally agree. The way some of these people act online, I don’t think I would ever want to meet……lol. (sometimes includes myself…lol)

I think before people meet outside of the net, under most circumstances, they should know what they’re interests are, what they are doing with their lives, what they’re intentions are for meeting and what things they have in common with each other.

Our perceptions get so tainted by so many internal and external influences, (which is actually how they are created in the first place….lol)

I do look forward to meeting some of the people here, but if you meet everyone together at the same time for a short period, you end up leaving others out.

i personally believe it should be somewhere in the middle of the us.. because im in ny… lol… that way i dont have to drive to the other side of the us and those from california have to drive to the other side either… lol.

Yeah… some people would prefer that for many reasons. Mostly fear of the unknown. What if everything’s different afterwards? What if people are not really like I imagined them? Maybe I won’t feel like telling them my deep dark secrets after we’ve met?
eah sure, a lot of things could hold us back from doing it.
But what if it turns out to be one of the best events we’ve been a part of in a long time?
And what if we get to meet friends from all over that we will remains true friends for a lifetime?

Well, I for one, would not miss out on it if it were to be.
Let’s think about some more and if we’re serious, then we should start seriously planning it. You know the old saying: “There’s a way as long as the will is there”.

well i wouldn’t have badges or anything, just nametags that said our real names so we can feel a little open to talking to one another, not necessarily linking us to our psuedonym here at help.com. i was envisioning more of just a large get together of help.com users who want to get a chance to mingle with random people here. different, so it’s kinda interesting.
