I want something.
I want for it to be a gray day, to rain but not storm; put on a tank top under a thick jacket with my hood on in my car, listening to good music, the way it used to be, smoke a cigarette or two watching the windsheild sweepers go up past cars driving by my friens and I.
I’d like to go to the park, sundress and all, sit in the green grass with my friends, make daisy chain crowns to the sound of the nearest softball game. laugh in the bathroom later at the sunburnt shoulder freckles of happy kissed greenery.
I’d like to go to the movies and not pay attention. forget my jacket and be cold. share popcorn and sneak out with my friends halfway through the movie. go to wal- mart to get cold donuts, my sneakers squeeking in the humidity, maybe run into some one we know and hide behind the magazine isle.
I’d like for the sun to go down, lay in the grass and watch the lightening bugs pray above like the forth of july. maybe play hopscotch in the street, locking elbows, sharing sodas and drawing on the road with paint markers. And I would laugh, not singleing out, no one to choose out of the light of my friends. And all of my friends would be there.
